Amazon Prime Video is one of the world’s most popular video streaming services. It is currently available on Google’s Android mobile operating system via the Play Store, Microsoft’s Windows Store, and App Store. Users using macOS, on the other hand, do not have access to such an app. However, this does not mean that MacBook and iMac users would be unable to use the Amazon Prime Video app on their computers; rather, they would need to log into Prime Video’s web-based interface in order to access the video streaming platform’s content. This is no longer the case, as Amazon has added official support for Amazon Prime Video on Apple’s macOS.

Amazon also claims that the Prime Video macOS app offers the same content and language selections as the Prime Video iOS app, including support for over 20 languages. It also supports streaming in 1080p, with 4K support on the way. Users will also receive automatic updates to their macOS apps. Audio descriptions and VoiceOver support are among the accessibility features supported by the app.

In terms of the app’s features, Amazon claims that while the main experience of the Amazon Prime Video macOS app is comparable to that of the platform’s web interface; it has undergone minor tweaks to make it more platform-agnostic. The Amazon Prime Video app will support AirPlay streaming, Picture-in-Picture, and the ability to download content for offline watching (later). Customers using the Amazon Prime Video application on their Mac will also be able to access the search functionality as well as popular features such as IMDb’s X-ray, continue watching, and watchlists, among others.
