Airtel Launches Airtel IQ Video Platform for OTT Video Services

  • Bharti Airtel is targeting growth in the OTT video market through its latest Airtel IQ Video offering. The telecom network has already onboarded three OTT service providers: Raj TV, Eros Now, and CG Telecom of Nepal, who will be using its new video platform as a service.

    We all are aware of the acceleration in OTT(Over The Top) content consumption due to COVID-19 induced lockdowns. The Lockdown urged people to stay at home resulting in the consumption of online content. Apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime video, Zee5, among others have seen a significant rise in terms of subscription and content catalogue.

    Airtel says the latest solution offers end-to-end service support. It will allow brands to launch video streaming products for large and small screens. Also, the product would be launched with the least expenditure on infrastructure and technology.

    Airtel’s IQ Video platform offers a variety of highlights, including app development, curation, content hosting. It also offers lifecycle management to search and discovery, analytics, and monetising models. The IQ Video will help the companies decrease expenses by 40 per cent. The latest way is better than the conventional way of launching the service.  

    Adarsh Nair, chief product officer, Bharti Airtel said the company is positive of onboarding more than 50 customers in one year across Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The executive further added that the company is currently examining the scale of the new offering and will eventually take it into markets soon.

    The Airtel IQ Video will allow content companies to come online and directly engage with consumers digitally. “We’ve been in the business for video for the last four years. We built the entire stack for streaming and now putting it out as a platform for other companies,” said Nair to the Economic Times.
