Is It Worth To Buy POCO F1 In 2021?

google-follow

The Poco F1 was the first device from POCO and is the original flagship device that tried to replicate what OnePlus did with OnePlus One. The POCO F1 is a complete package of flagship-grade specifications at a budget price. The performance of the device still holds good, so is it worth buying Poco F1 in 2021? Lets find out.

In 2018, Xiaomi rattled the smartphone industry with its new sub-brand Poco which managed to do what OnePlus did years ago. Poco launched one of the actual flagship killers, the Poco F1, and the rest is history. So, Poco F1 was centered on power users ever since its inception with its flagship hardware. However, it was retailing for a fraction of what other flagships used to costs which made F1 a massive hit among the consumers in India. But is it a good idea to buy Poco F1 in 2021? Let’s find out.

Starting with the design, the Poco F1 comes with a polycarbonate back, but that’s something that ensures its longevity. The F1 was launched for Rs. 20,999, and for that price, Poco offered top-of-the-class hardware, so a compromise in design is somewhat understandable, and it’s a much wiser decision to the brain rather than brawns.

Since it’s polycarbonate or plastic, it won’t be facing your everyday wear and tear that the usual glass backs are susceptible to, which means it’ll be more rugged than any other flagship. Second, you won’t need to spend on a case as polycarbonate is more durable to falls and drops than any other expensive smartphone made out of glass.

So in terms of design, Poco F1 doesn’t have any significant shortcoming though that notch reminds us of 2018.

Poco F1’s Display Still Holds Up in 2021

As we were speaking of the notch, it’s a good time to focus on display also. Poco F1 features a 6.18-inch IPS LCD having a Full HD resolution; well, it’s something used far behind 2018, but it isn’t this much of a big deal as Poco’s current top of the line offering in India, the Poco X3 Pro, also offers LCD panel in 2021. However, you would be missing out on the higher refresh rate, which is quite a bummer for many, but you won’t feel much difference if you have never used a higher refresh rate display before. So, Poco F1 is not doing great but good in the display department.

Snapdragon 845 on Poco F1 is Still a Champ

Poco F1

Now it’s time to focus on the brain of Poco F1. So, the F1 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC built on the 10nm node process. The Snapdragon 845 SoC features 4×2.8 GHz Kryo 385 Gold cores and 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 385 Silver. For handling graphics performance, F1 comes with Adreno 630 GPU. The Snapdragon 845 inside is coupled with either 6GB/8GB of LPDDR4X DRAM and atleast 64GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage.

The Snapdragon 845 on the Poco F1 was great back then, and it is great even now. Thanks to its high-end cooling solution, the chipset inside doesn’t seem to be aged much and is still comparable to some of the higher-end midrange smartphones.

Poco F1 Offers Decent Gaming Performance and Benchmark Scores

Poco F1 Gaming Performance

The Snapdragon 845 is capable; it doesn’t break a sweat while playing the resource-heavy game, and even the day-to-day tasks are pretty fluid. The Poco F1 is quite robust even after its three years of run, and it would be a wiser option to pick it up if you’re getting a good deal.

For those who like numbers, the Poco F1 managed to score 2,65,314 in Antutu v7, 9,003 in Geekbench 4.4, and 31fps on GFXBench. So if you are looking to buy Poco F1, you should definitely go ahead and it won’t disappoint in terms of performance.

Speaking of the software experience, the MIUI 12 on Poco F1 is a much cleaner version of what you usually get with the Redmi smartphones. So, there will be no advertisements or pesky notifications, and even the RAM management is also better than many other Xiaomi phones selling at the same price.

The 4000mAh Battery Beats The 2021 Smartphones

The Poco F1 comes with a 4000mAh battery, and the battery is on par with many other flagships. Also, it has an 18W fast charging to top up the battery on the go. So, the performance of Poco F1 is no slouch and could be considered among the best mid-rangers of 2021.

Poco F1 Can Click Some Nice Images and Shoot 4K@60fps Videos

Now coming to the optics, the Poco F1 comes with a dual-camera setup consisting of a 12 MP f/1.9 primary sensor accompanied by a 5MP f/2.0 depth sensor. On the front, it gets a 20MP f/2.0 sensor for selfies and video calls.

The cameras on Poco F1 are no slouch either, considering that recent smartphone with higher megapixels even produces 12MP images, so why don’t you get a smartphone with a 12MP sensor. That’s the case with Poco F1, a better primary camera than most smartphones in F1’s budget. Then, the 5MP depth sensor can be used to get some great portrait shots. Moreover, the camera can click HDR images and record videos at 4K@60fps.

The front camera is a 20MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, and it is a good camera. It can produce shots with good details. Further, it also has HDR and supports video recording at 1080P@30fps.
