iPhone 13 Vs. Vivo X70 Pro Plus: The Ultimate Photography King?

iPhones may provide good cameras every year but companies like Vivo are catching up and challenging Apple at its own game. Both iPhone 13 and Vivo X70 Pro Plus are camera beats but with such good feature offerings, it makes it difficult to choose one. Here’s a comparison between both these devices that can help you make a decision.

Apple’s new iPhone 13 lineup includes iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max all these phones offer a brand new camera system, a smaller notch, a longer battery life, and an all new A15 Bionic chipset. Among all these phones iPhone 13 is probably the phone that is going to make sense for most people out there.

iPhones always come with a really good camera system that often beats many of the Android flagship smartphones. But what if there is an Android phone that can go to do with the best that Apple has to offer? That smartphone is Vivo X70 Pro Plus and was launched around the same time as the iPhone 13 series and got overshadowed by the media outage covering the iPhone 13 series. The phone includes a lot of improvements upon its predecessor the X60 Pro but the main thing to focus on is its new and upgraded camera performance.

Here is a detailed comparison between iPhone 13 Vs. Vivo X70 Pro Plus and find out which is the ultimate photography king!

iPhone 13 design

The Vivo X70 Pro Plus comes with a satin finish in the back which feels very smooth to touch and keeps smudges and dirt away. While the iPhone 13 comes with a similar design to the iPhone 12 and nearly edge-to-edge display flat edges and support for face ID. The back of the phone is built with a glossy finish and you can choose from any of the five available colours.

This year Apple decided to reduce the size of the notch by about 20% smaller compared to the previous generation of the iPhone 12 series but it is slightly taller in terms of height. The Vivo X70 Pro Plus has a small hole punch camera cut out in the display which certainly makes it look more modern than the iPhone 13.

The iPhone 13 is made from what Apple calls aero-grade aluminium and features a ceramic shield in the front to protect the display. While the Vivo X70 Pro Plus comes with an aluminium frame and is overall built quite well. Both the iPhone 13 and Vivo X70 Pro Plus come with IP68 dirt and water resistance. The Vivo X70 Pro Plus can last for up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes in the water while the iPhone lasts a bit longer with about 6 meters for up to 30 minutes.

Hardware: iPhone 13 vs Vivo X70 Pro Plus

iPhone 13 has the latest and the much improved A15 Bionic chip that features 6 core CPUs with two performance courses and four efficiency courses as well as 4 core GPU and 16 core neural engines. The new chipset is faster and much efficient compared to the previous generation iPhone 12 but there’s not much dramatic gap between their performance.

Vivo X70 Pro Plus cameras

The Vivo X70 Pro Plus on the other hand comes with the latest Snapdragon 888 plus processor which is built on a 5nm process and has 8 cores arranged in a tri-cluster pattern. The phone provides sustainable performance and holds up very well without any heating issues.

Vivo X70 Pro Plus offers a huge 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel that ticks almost all the right boxes. It is sufficiently bright and has a WQHD+ resolution with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels. Moreover being a 10 bit AMOLED panel the display offers deep dark blacks with ample contrast and brightness. The screen has a 120 Hz refresh rate and features a peak brightness of 1500 nits.

While the iPhone 13 comes with the 6.1 inches Super Retina XDR display that uses OLED technology with a resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels. The pixel density of this display is 460 pixels per inch. The max brightness on iPhone 13 goes up to 800 and in HDR mode it goes even up to 1200 nits. So on both phones, you won’t have to worry about visibility in bright daylight. It is also important to note that unlike its siblings this phone didn’t receive any high refresh rate and we still feature a standard 60hz refresh rate display.

The Apple A15 Bionic chip is great and it comes to battery life and efficiency. The phone lasts easily long enough however you push it. And with the 20W dast charging support you can fully charge the device in about 90 minutes.

In terms of battery, the Vivo X70 Pro Plus comes out as a winner. It has a 4,500 mAh battery that supports fast-charging up to 66W. This charging speed enables you to charge the phone quickly from 0 to 100% under the 1-hour mark. Also, the company provides a compatible charger and cable in the box.

Camera: iPhone 13 vs Vivo X70 Pro Plus

Vivo X70 Pro Plus camera

This is where things get a little bit more interesting as both the phones have very competitive camera systems. The Vivo X70 Pro Plus has the company’s unique gimbal system camera which features a 48-megapixel ultra sensing gimbal main camera sensor. Additionally, it also features a 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor, 12-megapixel portrait sensor, and an 8-megapixel Periscope lens. For front camera selfies, the device has a 32-megapixel selfie shooter as well.

The camera system offers some punchy colours and provides better sharpness when you try to zoom into any photo you clicked. Even the low-light images captured using the Vivo X70 Pro Plus are more detailed and have little to no lens flare. The company also added what it calls a professional imaging chip v1 that helps with frame interpolation and provides brightness and denoising when using the camera.

iPhone 13 camera

iPhone 13 keeps the same number of lenses from last year and this is what we expect from Apple. The phone offers a 12-megapixel main camera which has the biggest sensor ever used in a dual-camera iPhone which is visible from the huge camera cut-out. It lets in 47% more light compared to the iPhone 12 camera and the images turn out to be quite impressive. The phone also includes the sensor-shift optical image stabilization feature that Apple introduced with the iPhone 12 Pro Max last year.

When compared to the Vivo X70 Pro Plus the iPhone 13 handles low light photography a little bit better. Also, it includes the ‘Cinematic Mode’ which automatically adjusts the focus when you are shooting video shifting between objects in foreground and background whenever you want. This is a feature that you won’t see in the Vivo X70 Pro Plus if the gimbal sensor does not match up to it.

Software: iPhone 13 vs Vivo X70 Pro Plus

FunTouch 12

Unfortunately, the custom skin with the Vivo X70 Pro Plus i.e the FuntouchOS brings in tons of features and apps in the form of bloatware while you can uninstall most of it but you cannot get rid of the pre-installed apps from the phone. The FunTouch UI doesn’t have that many customizations feature similar to Samsung’s One UI or OnePlus’s Oxygen OS.

iOS 15

iPhone 13 on the other hand comes with the latest iOS 15 which brings in entirely new features and app icon options. The update also brings redesigned FaceTime apps notifications and photos. Also, the operating system now includes a built-in authenticator app functionality that provides users with six-digit time-based codes that they can use for multi-factor or two-factor authentication.

Conclusion: iPhone 13 vs Vivo X70 Pro Plus

The Vivo X70 Pro Plus is really a very fun phone to use with features such as dual stereo speakers, high-speed wireless charging support, QHD 120hz display, and overall good camera performance the phone is certainly a flagship all-rounder. But things like the custom UI seem a bit complex and oftentimes comes across as annoying instead of useful.

On the other hand, the iPhone 13 certainly makes a good choice for Apple fans, it comes with improved cameras, clean UI, and great performance. But all these come at a hefty price tag. When you compare both phones the iPhone 13 clearly has an edge in the camera department as well as performance. If your pocket allows it, the iPhone 13 is certainly the choice to go with.
