Design
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus launch event unveiled that the phones would feature 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED displays, respectively. The display is surrounded by slim bezels, and instead of the pill-shaped “Dynamic Island” cutout, the notch has made a return.
Moreover, the screen still supports Dolby Vision and True Tone but with a peak brightness of 2000 nits and an HDR brightness of 1600 nits, which is almost double the 1200 nits of brightness found in its predecessor.
In addition, the entire iPhone 15 lineup will be equipped with a USB-C Port. This comes with the EU mandate that all future smartphones must shift to USB-C by 2024.
Both devices still ship with a 60Hz display, and there is no ProMotion screen despite featuring a Face ID sensor on the front. Using computational photography powered by the new A16 Bionic chip, the phone defaults to generating 24-megapixel shots.
