  • Choosing a new air conditioner for your house can be confusing when you have several options available like spilt, windows, tower and Cassette air conditioners. The options could seem daunting with the variety of air conditioners available. Also, you can even be under pressure to select a new system, depending on your circumstances.

However, if you’re planning to buy a Portable AC and want to know more about how it works, this article will surely help you.

    How does a cooler work?

A cooler is a box with three sides and loosely packed grass that simply pulls in hotter air, passes it through water, and then expels cooler moist air. They perform better in dry climates than in humid ones because of their mode of action.

    AC vs Cooler

Coolers don’t require as much energy, power, or weight as an air conditioner. They are designed only for indoor use and are portable. In contrast, Ac’s can pull out the dry air. Furthermore, split system air conditioners are the most prevalent kind of residential system. This kind has a central interior air conditioning unit and an outside unit that are connected to each other. The evaporator coils and a filter are located inside the indoor unit, while the condensing coil, fan, and compressor are found outside.

How does a portable AC work?

These ACs work like window AC and have two internal and external units. Compared to window ACs, portable air conditioners are considered the future. This kind of air conditioner pulls air from space, cools it, and then blows it back into space. The appliance then uses a window-mounted exhaust line to vent any warm air outside.

Why is it not meant for the Indian climate?

Portable ACs take more time to cool the space than most of the other ACs(split, and windows) available in the market and are inefficient too. Compared to using a central air system for the same quantity of cooling, your electricity costs are significantly higher.

    Final thoughts

Compared to a window air conditioner, portable air conditioners frequently require more BTUs and thus more electricity to cool the same square foot. This is probably because they produce waste heat inside rather than outside, which increases the amount of heat the unit must handle. Furthermore, if you are irritated with the noise of the window or split ACs, then this is the best option for you.
