On the Apple Store, former US President Donald Trump’s platform “Truth Social” has surpassed famous social media giants Twitter and TikTok. This information was unexpectedly disclosed by Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, now the second-placed microblogging service on the list.
Truth Social, a social media app created by former US President Donald Trump, is now available for download on Apple’s App Store. It was unveiled on February 21, 2022, President’s Day in the United States.
The app rocketed to the top of the App Store’s Top Charts almost immediately after its release.
Following Trump’s prohibitions from several social media networks, including Facebook and Twitter, in 2021, Truth Social was born. Following the Capitol Hill riots in January 2021, several sites dropped Trump due to worries about his public pronouncements.
Trump gained massive followings before being banned from different social media platforms. As a result of the conventional social media sites’ rejection of Trump, he stated his desire to create his own platform.
So, what exactly is Trump’s social media platform for? All you need to know about Truth Social is right here.

Trump Media & Technology Group owns Truth Social, a social media app developed by former US President Donald Trump (TMTG). The goal of this company, which was founded in February 2021, was to create alternatives to major media channels.

Reasons behind Trump launching Truth Social
Following the tragic Jan 6 Capitol Hill riots, tech platforms like Facebook and Twitter took the unusual step of banning Trump, a sitting president, from using their services. They were concerned that his words would instigate additional violence. Following Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 US presidential election, Trump used social media to spread false charges of election fraud.
When these firms suspended Trump, he lost his capacity to communicate with millions of individuals. Somewhat of pulling away from the millions of people who listen to every word he says, Trump feels he can seize control of the discourse and direct those followers to his application. This experiment will succeed if he can get even a tiny percentage of the population to follow him.
Money is undoubtedly a significant motivator, whether it’s extensive investments in the company or another technique to get fans to donate little money.

Do you belong on Truth Social?
The answer is most likely no if you have to ask. This site was not created to substitute for popular social media platforms such as Twitter or Facebook. Instead, it’s another social media platform to combat a so-called “woke culture,” with less emphasis on content control and accessibility.
Throughout the years, similar platforms have sprung up to gain the attention of alt-right, far-right, fringe, and extremist groups. As hate speech spread, these spaces—such as Gab, Parler, and Telegram—courted the right with different degrees of success and failure.
Truth Social has announced a partnership with Rumble, a far-right video site. He further added in an early statement about his platform that there will be no “shadow-banning, throttling, demonetising, or fiddling with algorithms for political manipulation” on Truth Social, which might be interpreted as a reference to the deplatforming of various alt-right leaders on mainstream social media sites over the years.
However, the site’s rules of service state that if you make fun of the platform, your account may be suspended.

Is Truth Social safe enough to join?
Despite the fact that Truth Social is based on Mastodon’s technology, it may be configured to not communicate with other Fediverse services, thereby making it an isolate. Both admins and users have access to solid filtering, moderation, and banning mechanisms built into Mastodon. It’s possible that these won’t be available here.
Other security clues can be found in Truth Social’s documentation. For example, ads and third-party advertisers are frequently mentioned in the Privacy Policy. While it’s unclear how this would affect privacy, it’s evident that commercialisation is a top goal. As previously stated, anything that might “disparage, tarnish, or otherwise hurt, in our judgement, us and/or the Site” is prohibited by Truth Social’s Terms of Service.

Can Truth Social compete in the long run?
Although Truth Social emerged at the top of the App Store on its first day, there’s no assurance that its popularity will last.
People may install the app only to see what Trump has to say because he is renowned for voicing provocative opinions on social media channels like Twitter and Facebook. Especially considering he’s been offline for a time since most mainstream social media applications have blocked him.
Only time will tell if enough people switch to Truth Social instead of their current social media platforms.
