Tecno Pova 3 Summary
Tecno has been doing really well under the Rs 10000 bracket in India. The company has launched several phones in past, some of which were really good. Following the trend, the brand has launched another budget phone in India, Tecno Pova 3.
Tecno Pova 3 is the successor to the Tecno Pova 2, which was launched last year. The phone packs a lot on paper for the price. It packs a Mediatek Helio G88 chipset, massive 7000mAh battery, dual-stereo speaker, 90Hz display and more.
Tecno seems to be catching all the eyes with these specifications but the real question is, how well does it perform in daily life usage? Here are my first impressions of the Tecno Pova 3.

Tecno Pova 3 Design and Build
I really liked the design of Tecno Pova 3 which gives it a sporty look. The phone has a plastic build but feels solid and sturdy in the hands and doesn’t give any cheap look. I have the Eco Black colour variant which gives it an elegant look.
The back of the device has a matte finish with a long protruding strip in the middle that extends all the way from the top to the bottom. You will also find a triple camera setup on the back of the phone with Tecno Pova branding on the bottom left.

I’ll not lie, the phone is kind of big and might not be suitable for single-hand use. However, it is quite slim even though it packs a big battery inside. Overall, I am pretty happy with the design and built quality of the phone.
Talking about the ports, the phone has a power button along with volume buttons on the right side. The left holds a sim tray. The bottom of the phone has a 3.5mm audio jack, mic, type-C port and primary speaker while the top has the secondary speaker.
Tecno Pova 3 Display
Coming to the display, the phone packs a big 6.9-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display. The display features a 90Hz refresh rate which will help you while gaming. The phone gets decently bright and outdoor visibility was not an issue.
You can set the refresh rate to either 60Hz or take it up to 90Hz in the settings. The bezels around the display are fairly thin except for the bottom chin, which was a little thick.

I found the display quality to be sharp and detailed. The colours were vivid and punchy. Of course, it doesn’t offer good colours and deep blacks like an AMOLED display, but it gets the job done.
As I said, the display is big, which makes it amazing for multimedia usage. Watching movies or playing games offers a great experience which is further enhanced by the stereo speakers.
Tecno Pova 3 Camera
Talking about the optics, the Tecno Pova 3 features a triple camera setup on the back. It includes a 50MP primary camera on the back while the front has an 8MP camera for selfies.
The images taken with the 50MP camera were good in daylight. The photos were detailed and the colours were quite accurate. Overall, the photos came out good and were Instagram worthy.
Portrait mode also works pretty well and the subjects are well separated from the background. The blur effect was also smooth and didn’t look bad. The low light performance works fine using the dedicated night mode and the results were acceptable considering the price tag.

Coming to the selfies, the image quality was just average and nothing above that.
The phone can record videos of up to 2K resolution with the rear camera. The video quality was pretty good but it comes out shaky since there is no kind of stabilisation. We will talk more about the cameras in the detailed review of the Tecno Pova 3, so stay tuned with us.
Tecno Pova 3 Performance and UI
Tecno Pova 3 doesn’t disappoint when it comes to performance either. The phone features a Mediatek Helio G88 chipset which we have seen in many budget smartphones these days. One thing I can say about this processor is that it can handle all your casual tasks without breaking a sweat.
The phone is paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. I have the 6GB RAM variant with me which can further be expanded by 5GB using the MemFusion feature. Using this feature, you can easily do multitasking on your phone.
I didn’t notice any lags or shutters while my time with the phone. I used it for social media scrolling, some web browsing, taking some pictures and gaming. Oh yes, gaming. We tried a couple of popular titles including BGMI, COD: Mobile and Asphalt 9. All the games ran well in medium to high settings.

BGMI ram smoothly in HD Graphics with High frame rates. COD: Mobile and Asphalt 9 also ran smoothly on the phone which is really impressive for a device in this price range. Moreover, the phone doesn’t get hot while gaming as Tecno has brought the graphite layer cooling system for the first time which keeps the temperature in control.
On top of this, you get 4D vibrations which will enhance your gaming experience and a dedicated game mode where you can customize the settings and boost the performance of the phone.
The phone runs on HiOS version 8 which is based on Android 12. It packs a ton of features that you can play around with. I personally loved the Social Turbo Feature which lets you record WhatsApp calls and even see deleted messages. You will also find a multi-tasking window and floating windows which will let you take full advantage of the big screen.
Tecno Pova 3 Battery and Charging
Now let’s talk about the major reason to buy this phone. The Tecno Pova 3 packs a massive 7000mAh battery that offers great battery life. The phone will easily last 2 days of casual use and at least 1 day of heavy use.
On top of that, you get some battery-saving mode which will further extend the battery life. If you use your phone a lot on the go, this might be a good fit for you. You can do long gaming sessions without needing to worry about the battery.

And even if the battery goes down, you get a 33W fast charger in the box that can charge the phone at 25W. Yes you heard it right, it’s a 33W charger but the phone supports only up to 25W of fast charging. Nonetheless, it is still fast for a budget phone.
On top of this, you also get a 10W reverse charging feature. The 33W charger can fully charge the device in about 2 hours.
Pros & Cons
Pros

- Massive 7000mAh battery
- Decent performance
- 25W fast charging speed

Verdict
Tecno has clearly done a great job with Tecno Pova 3 and the phone offers great value for money. The Mediatek Helio G88 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM makes sure that you do not suffer anywhere on performance. Whereas the big 7000mAh battery ensures that you can do all your tasks throughout the day.
The big display along with stereo speakers offers an amazing multimedia experience. I wish the cameras were a little better but I cannot complain much at this price.
All in all, Tecno Pova 3 is a really good phone for its price and gives an edge to edge competition in the budget segment.
