Realme GT Neo 3T Review

Until now, the Realme GT Neo lineup has been among the brand’s most popular lineups. Realme has now added a new phone to its lineup, the Realme GT Neo 3T.

It’s another speedier addition to the GT line, with an eye-catching racing design, solid performance, and blazing fast charging. It lacks a class-leading camera, which is expected when the priority is set to display and performance.

Still, there’s a lot to like here, and the GT Neo 3T is an excellent choice for many performance-oriented buyers. And that is what we’ll discuss today in this review of Realme GT Neo 3T.

Realme GT Neo 3T Design and Build

After seeing the Realme GT Neo 3T, I must say that Realme has actually taken a step forward in terms of design. The back has a one-of-a-kind racing flag design that shines when light falls on it. It comes in three colours: Drifting White, Dash Yellow, and Shade Black. I have the white colour variant with me for this review.

Realme GT Neo 3T Design

Personally, I thought it was the perfect mix of quirky and elegant. The smartphone has a plastic backside and has a nice feel to it, despite being slightly heavier at 195g.

A glass back would have looked and felt more premium, but the plastic back doesn’t feel cheap, so no problem. The back panel is also fingerprint resistant, which is a good thing. The camera module protrudes slightly, causing the phone to wobble when placed on a flat table.

Although using the phone with one hand is not very convenient, but the curved edges do offer a better grip. It’s a tall phone so you should either have big hands or you are better off using both hands.

Talking about the button placements, the right side has the power button while the volume rockers are on the left side. The button side houses the Type-C port, speaker grille and SIM card tray.

One thing to note is that the phone has no official IP rating to protect it from dust and water. Overall, I really like what Realme has done in the design department, but I wish the build quality was a little better.

Realme GT Neo 3T Camera

The Realme GT Neo 3T features a triple camera seup on the back which is the same as on Neo 2. This includes a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and 2MP macro lens. The punch hole on the front has a 16MP camera for taking selfies.

Realme GT Neo 3T Camera

The main camera captures high-quality images in daylight. The colours are vibrant and somewhat saturated, and the amount of details is quite good.

In low light, the photographs will have some noise, which is slightly disappointing. You can take decent nighttime photos by using the Night Mode, but in no case can you describe the photos as incredible.

The 8MP ultrawide lens provides a good level of quality and a wider field of view. However, there is a noticeable loss of sharpness and detail when compared to the main camera. The colours are vibrant and consistent, similar to the main camera. But the images appear hazy, and there is noticeable noise in low light.

The 2MP macro sensor takes good photos, but only in bright sunlight. Additionally, in order to focus and get a good shot when using Ultra Macro mode, you need to keep your hands really steady.

The 16MP selfie camera performs admirably. Selfies captured had good detail, and skin tones appeared natural. It’s worth noting that the camera’s beautification mode is turned on by default, so turn it off to get more natural selfies. Portrait shots taken with the selfie camera were not always accurate, there were times when it blurred the edges of subject

Talking about video recording, the phone can record up to 4K videos at 30/60fps using the main camera. Videos recorded in daylight had good amount of detail in them. There’s an ultra steady mode which uses EIS to offer a stable and clean video.

Overall, cameras on the Realme GT Neo 3T are good, but leave me wanting more.

Realme GT Neo 3T Battery and Charging

The Realme GT Neo 3T packs a big 5000 mAh battery and offers a long battery life. It’s the same old battery capacity as seen on the Realme GT Neo 2, but this time it comes with a 80W fast charging support. The phone easily lasts a day, even with heavy use. A casual user can expect a battery life of a day and a half.

Realme GT Neo 3T Battery

I got about 6-7 hours of screen on time, which is not bad. My usage included some Instagram scrolling, playing games, making a few calls and watching videos on Youtube at night. But as you can tell, the real highlight is not the battery life but the fast charging.

The 80W charger is really fast. You can juice up the battery to 50 per cent with just 12 minutes of charging. It can charge the phone from 0 to 100 per cent in just about 40 minutes, which is crazy for its league. The company bundles the charger in the box, which I really appreciate.

Realme GT Neo 3T Display

Realme has packed a BBC display in the GT Neo 3T. I mean a big, beautiful and crisp display. It sports an FHD+ 6.62-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The display has a peak brightness of 1300 nits and touch sampling rate of 360Hz.

Talking about the brightness, the display gets pretty bright, and I faced no issues while using the phone under direct sunlight. I could easily read texts and chat on WhatsApp. Moreover, the display feels very smooth, thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate. My scrolling experience on Instagram and Twitter was buttery smooth.

Realme GT Neo 3T Display

Coming over display quality, as I said, it’s beautiful and crisp. The content on the screen was detailed and clear. The colours were vibrant and punchy. Moreover, the bezels are thin on all sides and the viewing eagles were good as well. I really enjoyed watching videos and playing games on this display.

It also comes with HDR10+ certification so you can watch HDR content on YouTube. Sadly, it doesn’t work on OTT platforms like Netflix and Prime Video. Not to forget, the display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. So, don’t worry about getting minor scratches or accidental drops.

GT Neo 3T Display quality

Overall, it’s a great display and I can assure you that you will enjoy using the GT Neo 3T for multimedia usage and content consumption combined with the stereo speakers.

Realme GT Neo 3T Performance

The Realme GT Neo 3T doesn’t disappoint when it comes to performance. It is powered by a Snapdragon 870 chipset which is also seen on the GT Neo 2. While there is no upgrade in the chipset, it doesn’t mean it performs bad. The performance of GT Neo 3 is still good for 2022.

Realme GT Neo 3T Performance

It is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. You also get the RAM expansion feature, but it doesn’t really make a difference. The device is undoubtedly fast, be it is in terms of app opening time, multitasking, or simply performing resource intensive tasks such as photo editing.

I never noticed any shutters, and it could handle any task I threw at it. Now it was time to further push the phone. I tried some graphic intensive games like Apex Legends Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile and Asphalt 9. All the games ran well in high graphic settings.

Realme GT Neo 3T gaming

CoD Mobile ran smoothly at High graphics with High frame rates. While Apex Legends could run at ExtremeHD graphic settings with Very-High frame rates. I did not notice any major lags or frame drops while playing these games.

Moreover, it doesn’t get too hot or face thermal throttling, thanks to the Stainless Steel Vapor Cooling System Plus. It keeps the temperature under control so you can enjoy long gaming sessions without any issues.

Realme GT Neo 3T Software and UI

The Realme GT Neo 3T runs on Realme UI 3.0 which is based on Android 12. The Neo3T offers roughly the same number of features and customisation options as its more expensive GT lineup.

Relame UI 3.0 includes bunch of features like a 3D icon, floating window 2.0, AOD personalization, AI Smooth engine, smooth animation engine, phone manager 2.0, and privacy features. Swiping down on the home screen will bring up global search by default. You can head over to settings and change it to notification panel anytime.

The app drawer is smooth and minimalistic, and the OS is generally easy to use. The Realme Lab menu, like other recent Realme smartphones, allows you to use the in-display fingerprint scanner to measure your heart rate.

Now, one of the major drawbacks of the Realme UI is the presence of bloatware, which is extremely irritating. These include Josh, Moj, Facebook, LinkedIn, Loco, Snapchat and more. Thankfully, you can uninstall most of them if not needed.

Realme promises two years of major software updates and three years of security updates, which is on par with other smartphones in this range.

Realme GT Neo 3T Audio, Connectivity, Biometrics

The Realme GT Neo 3T features a stereo speaker setup, one located at the bottom while the other one on the top. The audio output is loud, clear and mostly balanced, however, there are times when the audio from the bottom speaker is a bit louder than the earpiece. There’s no audio jack, so you can only use Bluetooth earphones.

The phone comes with 5G connectivity with support for 8 5G bands. These include: n1, n3, n5, n8, n28A, n41, n77, n78. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS and NFC.

Talking about biometrics, the Realme GT Neo 3T comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The placement of the scanner is a little too much on the bottom side which is a bit weird. Nonetheless, it quickly unlocks the phone and has good accuracy. You can also use face unlock which works just fine.

Verdict

It’s obvious that the Realme GT Neo 3T can be a good choice if you’re looking for a smartphone under 30,000. Particularly for gamers and heavy users. Even though the Realme GT Neo 3T is an excellent value for money phone, I did not notice any major improvements over the previous generation.

The only noteworthy changes are the addition of 80W fast charging and a fresh back design. The battery life could have been better, but the 80W charger reduces charging time significantly. Also, the camera performance is not the best in the segment.

So, if you enjoy playing games and don’t intend to take a lot of photographs, Realme GT Neo 3T 5G can be a solid option for you.
