Realme C53 Review: Price in India and Variants
The Realme C53 has been launched in India in two variants. The 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant costs Rs. 9,999, while the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant costs Rs. 10,999.
It is available in two different colour options: Champion Black and Champion Gold. YOu can buy the phone directly from the official website of Realme or other e-commerce platforms like Flipkart.

Realme C53 Design and Build
The Realme C53 looks very similar to the C55 from the back with an added camera lens and stretched shiny finish on the upper side. The phone has a nice feel to it, although it’s made of plastic.
Talking about the back, you get a matte finish on the majority of the backside with a shiny finish on the top. You get a dual camera setup on the back that bulges a lot, and you will surely see a wobble when placed on a flat surface.

The phone comes with flat edges and curved corners that give it a nice grip in the hands. No doubt it’s a big phone and won’t be comfortable in everyone’s hand, but it was fine for me. Turning the phone to the front, you see a water-drop notch that looks dated but I can’t complain at this price.
Even though it’s a big phone with a 5000 mAh battery, the phone itself weighs pretty light at just 186 grams. Kudos to the Realme team for this level of weight management. The right side has a power button that doubles as the fingerprint scanner, along with volume rockers.
The left side has the SIM card slot, while the bottom houses the Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack and speaker grille.
Realme C53 Camera
Camera is the real highlight of the Realme C53, as it’s the first phone to in its price segment to feature a 108MP main camera lens. It features a dual camera setup, as I said before, and has a 2MP secondary lens. The front side has an 8MP lens for taking selfies.
The 108MP main camera takes nice shots in daylight conditions. It captures good details and punchy colours with a decent dynamic range.
The portrait shots come out very good as well. They had a very subtle bokeh effect with good background separation.

However, things take a hit in low light. The pictures do get hazy due to the lack of stabilisation. Low light pictures also bring the noise to the images, and the details are cut down.
The 8MP front camera captures good selfies in proper lighting conditions. The images are not very detailed and are on the softer side, but they look pleasant overall. Portrait selfies are not as good as the main camera. The edge detection misses the spots and fails to get the right separation.
Realme C53 Battery and Charging
Realme C53 packs a big 5000mAh battery that easily lasts a whole day on heavy usage. I got about 6 hours of screen on time which is great. And if you are a light user who just makes calls, texts on WhatsApp and scrolls Instagram for an hour, you will get about 2 days of battery backup.
While the battery backup is awesome for the price, the charging speed could have been better. It comes with 18W fast charging support, which is fine for this price seg,ment but is kinda slow in charging the 5000mAh battery.

It takes more than 2 hours to fully charge the phone from 0 to 100 per cent. Good thing is that you get the fast charging in the box itself.
Realme C53 Display
Realme C53 features an HD 6.74 inches IPS LCD display that offers a decent viewing experience. It comes with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 560 units. Well, the HD display is not very sharp on this big-size display but getting 90Hz at this price makes it a good deal.
The brightness level is decent for both indoor and outdoor use. You are going to face some trouble while using the phone under direct sunlight. Other than that, the display offers vibrant and punchy colours.

I really had a good time scrolling through my Insta feed and watching videos on YouTube. While the bezels are thin on all sides, you get a thick chin which is acceptable at this price. But one thing I don’t like is the water-drop notch which seems dated.
A punch hole camera cutout could have been a much better choice. All in all, it’s a nice display for the price and good for casual content consumption.
Realme C53 Performance and Software
Realme C53 is powered by a Unisoc T612 chipset which is paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Well a weird thing is that the 4GB RAM variant comes with 128GB of storage while the 6GB RAM variant comes with 64GB of storage.
You also get the RAM expansion feature that further adds up to 6GB of RAM for a total of 12GB RAM (6GB RAM variant).
The phone runs day to day apps with ease. I used Instagram, Twitter and WhatsApp throughout my testing period and I did not face any issues. While the apps do take a little longer to open up, it was fine for the price.

I would not suggest you to play games on it, but it can handle some light games like Subway Surfers, Free Fire and similar games. But just for the sake of testing, I played BGMI and my experience wasn’t that great. Asphalt 9 on low settings was still playable.
Realme C53 runs on Android 13 which is based on Realme UI T edition. The UI is simple and easy to use and gives a similar vibe to stock UI. You also get the mini-capsule feature which gives information on battery and charging.
On the other hand, the UI is packed and loaded with bloatware and third-party apps like Facebook, Amazon, Snapchat, Josh, PhonePe, Moj and many more. Good thing is that you can uninstall them from the settings.
Realme C53 is a good option under 10K with a nice design and excellent cameras for the price. You also get a good battery backup with a very simple and subtle UI which really appeals to me. Other than that, the display is okay for the most part.
The everyday performance of the phone is justified for its price and other phones in the price range would deliver somewhat same. The only reason to pick the C53 would be if you are a fan of Realme and want a solid primary camera at budget.
Otherwise, you can get your hands on other devices that come with better storage, nicer display and faster charging speeds for a similar price tag.
