Infinix has been doing really well in Indian markets and the brand has launched yet another impressive smartphone. The Infinix Zero 20 is the latest launch by the company under 20K which tends to focus on the cameras.

And by saying cameras, I don’t just mean the back camera but also the front camera. There’s a 108MP primary lens at the back but what’s more impressive is the 60MP selfie camera. Yes, you heard it right. There’s a 60MP front camera which makes it really worthy of being a vlogging phone.

But can it compete against the traditional camera or replace it? How well does it perform in everyday tasks? Let’s find out in this Infinix Zero 20 review.

  • Infinix Zero 20 Review

Infinix has added another phone to their Zero lineup by the name Infinix Zero 20. The Infinix Zero 20 sure packs a lot of features for its price and looks like a compelling deal. The main highlight of the phone includes its 60MP OIS selfie camera and 108MP main camera.

Other than that, it has a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset to handle all your daily tasks. You get a big AMOLED display for a nice viewing experience. There’s also a 4500mAh battery paired with 45W fast charging to offer an all-rounder package.

But there are some shortcomings as well, starting with no 5G connectivity. It’s a 4G phone so not particularly future proof and the secondary cameras are not really any good. So is it worth 18K? I am going to answer that and more of your questions in this Infinix Zero 20 review.

Infinix Zero 20 Price in India and Variants

Infinix Zero 20 Design and Build

I have to say that the Infinix Zero 20 looks very simple but still has a modern feel to it. It surely punches above its price tag. You get a vibrant matte finish on the back which feels premium when you hold it in your hands. Thanks to this, it doesn’t attract any fingerprints or smudges.

    Infinix Zero 20 Design

It has a very boxy looking appearance and comes in three different colour options – Glitter Gold, Deep Grey, and Green Fantasy. I have the former with me for the review. The two tone finish catches the eye from far away.

On the back, you will notice a big camera module which houses three lenses and a LED flash. There’s also a subtle Zero branding on the button left of the back panel. The flat edges with rounder corners give it a premium vibe. It also helps in offering a good grip in hands.

It’s pretty sleek at 7.98 mm and weighs 196 grams which feels light in hands, thanks to balanced weight distribution. Turing the phone to the front might disappoint you as there’s water drop notch on the top which feels dated and definitely doesn’t look good on an 18K phone.

    Infinix Zero 20 slimness

Talking about ports and buttons, the right side has the power button (which doubles as the fingerprint scanner) and volume rockers. The left side has the SIM card slot while the top has the secondary mic. The bottom side holds the primary speaker, primary mic, 3.5mm audio jack and type-C port.

Overall, the Infinix Zero 20 looks stylish and has a good build quality for a phone costing under 20K.

    Infinix Zero 20 Camera

Let’s now talk about the real highlight of the Infinix Zero 20, its cameras. The Infinix Zero 20 features a triple camera setup on the back. This includes a 108MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro lens. Sounds good right? But what’s more impressive is the 60MP OIS selfie camera.

    Infinix Zero 20 Camera

Starting with the main camera, it takes pretty good photos in daylight conditions. The details and colours came out really well. The dynamic range was nice and the photos look pleasant to the eyes. Low light shots with the main camera also look decent with good details.

The ultra-wide shots are just average. They lack in detail when compared to the main camera. The dynamic range is just ok and the colours look fine.

The 2MP macro lens is just for the show as with other phones in this price range. It fails to take detailed macro shots due to low resolution camera. Moreover, you have to keep your hands really steady to take a passable shot.

What’s really worthy is the 60MP front camera. It takes superb selfies with crisp details and good dynamic range. The skin tones look natural. If you are someone who likes to take selfies, the Infinix Zero 20 will definitely put a smile on your face.

The phone can record 2K videos at 30fps and 1080P videos at 60fps using the main and front cameras. The OIS on the front camera helps to record stable footage and will help you if you record vlogs.

Infinix Zero 20 Battery and Charging

The Infinix Zero 20 packs a decent 4500mAh battery which might fall short from the competition’s point of view but does provide a good battery backup. You can easily use the phone for one full day with light usage.

If you are a heavy user who plays games and binge watches Netflix series, then you would need to charge the phone by the evening. I got about 5.5 hours of screen on time which is pretty good for a 4500mAh battery.

Coming over to charging, you get 45W fast wired charging support. The 45W charger can fully phone your phone in about 50 minutes from 0 to 100 per cent. A quick charge of 20 minutes would juice the battery to nearly 50 per cent.

There is no wireless charging support as expected from a phone in this price range. All in all the Infinix Zero 20 offers a decent battery backup which is sufficient for most users and the charging speed is also good.

    Infinix Zero 20 Display

The Infinix Zero 20 features an FHD+ 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It’s a pretty good display to have in this budget. The 90Hz refresh rate makes the overall experience smooth. Be it navigating the UI or switching between apps, everything looks seamless.

The brightness levels are good and I could easily use the phone indoors and outdoors on a cloudy day. The sunlight legibility could have been better but it’s not bad.

Talking about display quality, the AMOLED panel offers punchy colours and deep blacks. The viewing angles are also good. I watched a couple of episodes of Alice in Borderland on Netflix and my experience was nice.

The bezels are thin on all the sides except for the chin, which is a bit wider. The only thing that holds it back is the water drop notch which looks a bit dated. Otherwise, it’s a solid display for content consumption and you won’t be disappointed at all.

Infinix Zero 20 Performance and Software

The Infinix Zero 20 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset which is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. There is only one storage variant of the phone and you can expand the storage using a Mirco SD card. The phone easily handled my casual usage like texting, taking photos, watching videos and browsing.

    Infinix Zero 20 Performance

The apps open quickly and switching among apps was also smooth. There was a bit of lag sometimes but it did not happen frequently. I scrolled Instagram for hours and my experience was good. No major shutters.

The 8GB RAM can handle multitasking to some extent. If we talk about gaming, I tried a couple of heavy games like Call of Duty Mobile and Genshin Impact. Both the games were playable at medium settings.

However, I had to lower the graphic settings to get a lag free experience. Even after playing for about an hour, the phone did not show signs of heating which is a big thumbs up for Infinix. So, you can do casual gaming for fun but it’s not the phone for hardcore gamers.

The phone runs on XOS 12 skin which is based on Android 12. I wish it came running on the latest Android 13 but maybe that’s a lot to expect from Infinix. The UI feels smooth and is simple to navigate.

    Infinix Zero 20 UI

Yes, the phone comes with pre-installed apps which was expected. No worries you can uninstall most of them. You also get a good amount of features and customisation options to play with in the settings.

Infinix Zero 20 Audio, Connectivity, Biometrics

The Infinix Zero 20 comes with a stereo speaker setup which is always nice to have. The speaker quality is just good and the audio was loud and clear. You also get the 3.5mm audio jack, so just plug in your wired earphones for a better audio experience.

    Infinix Zero 20 Audio

One thing where it falls behind is that it’s a 4G phone. At a time when 5G is slowly becoming a big thing in India, launching a 4G phone doesn’t look like a wise decision. Other connectivity options include: Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth, and GPS.

A side mounted fingerprint scanner takes care of the biometrics. An in-display fingerprint scanner would have been better but the side mounted scanner also does the job pretty well. You can also use the face unlock feature which is way less secure.

    Verdict

Infinix Zero 20 is a good phone to consider if you want a superb selfie camera for content creation and 5G is not your priority. It not only takes good photos, both from the main and selfie cameras but also performs good enough to handle everyday tasks.

You get a good design and build that punches above its price. The battery life is decent and the 45W fast charging is also good for the price. The 90Hz AMOLED display is smooth and punchy for content consumption.

All in all, it’s a nice all-rounder 4G phone that you can get under 20K. You can also check out Realme 9 Pro+ which costs a couple of thousand more but it is also a better phone.
