    WhatsApp’s New Screenshot Blocking Feature

WhatsApp to upgrade its feature soon. WhatsApp screenshot-blocking feature will restrict users from capturing screenshots from ‘View Once’ media files. This social messaging app launched the View Once feature.

This feature enabled the users to send a photo or video for a one-time view only. After which it disappears. It was developed for offering more privacy to the users. Now Whatsapp has decided to add up more to this feature.

This new upgraded feature was spotted in the new WhatsApp beta version by WABetaInfo. It is a portal for viewing the upcoming WhatsApp features.

WhatsApp’s New Screenshot Blocking Feature

The WhatsApp beta version is 2.22.22.3 for Android, and the latest beta version for iOS is 22.21.0.71, which has brought a new screenshot-blocking feature. This feature has been introduced on the social messaging app WhatsApp.

So, when the user sends a picture on WhatsApp as a view once feature. But it gets blocked when the receiver tries to capture a screenshot of it. The receiver also gets a warning text. The pop text reads can’t capture screenshots due to security policy.

Also, if somehow the receiver tries to screenshot it using any third-party apps, the image comes as black. However, WhatsApp will not allow screen recording of view once videos are on its app. It is because of the security policy.

WhatsApp’s new screenshot-blocking feature is here to stay forever. The new feature also does not let the users – save, forward, or edit a view once media file. But the picture can still be taken using any secondary device.

This feature is only limited to a few beta testers during this time. But it might soon release to more people in the upcoming weeks. Now WhatsApp is expecting to look for more means through which a user can still capture screenshots. So it can be fixed for the stable version.

Meta announced three new privacy focussed features – WhatsApp Leaving groups silently, Screenshot blocking, and Controlling online presence. It has now added this new feature of screenshot blocking for beta users.

This feature will very soon roll out for others too. Even other features are expected to be known by the end of the year.
