WhatsApp has been adding quite a few interesting features recently. The popular social messaging platform has now started testing a much needed feature. The company is reportedly working on a feature which will allow users to choose an image quality before sending it to someone.
Now, users of the application know that it compresses certain images to such an extent, that it ruins the quality. However, things will be different now as the feature is reportedly in the works.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, the company is testing the new feature in Whatsapp beta version 2.21.14.16. Moreover, this particular feature will initially roll out to only Android users of the app. Furthermore, the report states that WhatsApp will allow users to choose between three image qualities. These quality presets include ‘Auto’, ‘Best Quality’ and ‘Data Saver’.
Besides, the report states that users will be able to find the feature by navigating to their Storage and Data menu. Now, under it, they can find a tab which is titled ‘Photo Upload Quality’. This will allow users to set a particular quality for the images they share over the application.

WhatsApp New Feature: What More?
If WhatsApp users choose the ‘Auto’ setting, the app will automatically detect and apply the compression technique. This compression technique will be best suited for the kind of quality the user has chosen. Moreover, the Auto setting will reportedly be recommended by the app itself.

On the other hand, the ‘Best Quality’ setting will allow the users to send over the best image quality over to their contact list. Meanwhile, the ‘Data Saver’ setting will use an aggressive compression technique which will significantly reduce the size of the image. What this will do is it will allow users to send over pictures even when not in a good network coverage area.

For now, this particular feature is undergoing beta testing. WhatsApp will most likely introduce this feature soon by rolling out an official update for the app. Android users will be able to find this update on the Google Play Store itself. Additionally, the application is also reportedly testing a feature which allows users to send over high-quality videos as well. From the looks of it, these features will be incredibly useful when they roll out.
