WhatsApp Tests View Once Feature on UWP App
WhatsApp’s UWP desktop app for Windows has an update with a slew of new features. We recently saw the Meta-owned messaging platform add Windows 11 design elements earlier this year and support dark mode.
The company is currently testing the “View Once” feature for media files, allowing users to send disappearing photos and videos to WhatsApp recipients.
Users can use this feature to send media files to recipients that can only be viewed once. When a user opens a view once an image or video is sent to them, it appears for a brief moment before users deletes it automatically from the chat. You can see a preview of the feature in the screenshot below.

For those unaware, the View Once feature has been available on both the iOS and Android versions of WhatsApp since last year. When users share media content on WhatsApp, the feature helps to improve their privacy. However, users can take a screenshot or record a screen recording of the View once content before anyone deletes it automatically.
The new feature popping up in the WhatsApp UWP app is currently in development and is being out to a select group of beta testers, according to WABetaInfo. As a result, it may take some time before it appears in the stable version.
New Pop-up Menu for Phone Numbers on Android
Aside from that, WABetaInfo discovered a new phone number pop-up menu in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (v2.22.8.11). When a user taps phone number on a chat window, this new feature will display a pop-up menu with various options.
If the phone number is not already in WhatsApp, users can dial it using the default dialer app. User can also add it to their contacts. If the number is available on WhatsApp, they will be given an additional “Chat with” option. In order to begin a conversation with the connection right away. Here’s a demonstration of the new pop-up menu in action.
This feature is also available to a few beta testers and has not yet been out to the stable version. If you missed it, WhatsApp recently debuted a slew of previously beta voice message features. As a result, the features above are likely to be available to the general public shortly.
