WhatsApp is offering message reactions to a restricted group of users, according to a report from WABetaInfo. The announcement comes months after the initial rumours broke that WhatsApp was working on integrating message replies to its app. This isn’t a surprising move, given that message reactions have become increasingly common in messaging services.

WhatsApp message reactions will function similarly to those on other platforms. Users would be able to long-press on a message. To bring up a floating menu with extra actions they can perform on the message.

This long-press menu now displays. A list that allows users to star, copy, or forward a message, as well as permanently delete it. This, on the other hand, is a drop-down menu found beneath a message.

Message reactions, on the other hand, would appear above the message in question as a floating bar. Thumbs up, love, laughter, surprise, tears, and thankfulness are among the emoji-based reactions available to users.

As a result, the functionality functions in the same way as Instagram direct messages do, allowing users to respond to messages with a limited set of rapid emojis. After you’ve chosen a reaction, it will show at the bottom of the message. WABetaInfo says that the function is presently only available to a limited amount of beta users. Not all app beta testers have access to it.

For those who wish to see if they’ve already obtained the feature, the WhatsApp for Android beta app version 2.22.8.3 is now the compatible update. It has debuted on WhatsApp’s Android beta, according to screenshots received by WABetaInfo, but given that this is a universal user experience feature, it is sure to emerge on iOS as well – and soon.
