WhatsApp is said to be working on a new feature that will allow users to see their contacts’ status updates through their profile pictures. Within the WhatsApp app, there is currently a dedicated area where you may check status updates. The option to see a user’s status is likely to be added to the chats section now, where users will be able to click on the profile image and see the contact’s status. This feature is still in development and cannot be seen even if users are using the most recent WhatsApp beta.

WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo says that this new feature is in the works. It was discovered in the code of WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.21.17.5, according to sources. When a user taps a contact’s profile photo, WhatsApp displays an option window asking if the user wants to see the status update or the profile picture. Users can view the status of a specific user by selecting the status update option. This is pretty similar to Twitter Fleets, which launched earlier this year.

When this feature will be available to WhatsApp users is currently unknown. It’s still in the works and hasn’t been made available for public beta testing. This implies that people on the most recent beta will not be able to see this feature just yet.

WhatsApp just announced a new feature that allows users to transfer their chat history between iOS and Android devices. At Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event, WhatsApp made this announcement. Starting with the new foldables, people will only be able to use the feature to convert their chat history from iPhones to Samsung phones for now. However, the company states that the feature would be available for both iOS and Android users in the near future, allowing data transfer in both directions.
