Earlier in 2017, WhatsApp introduced their Delete for Everyone feature, it was definitely a great addition. However, one thing that always troubled users was the ability to decide whether or not to delete a message in just seven minutes via the WhatsApp Delete for Everyone feature. Right now, the feature gives users ‘one hour, eight minutes, and 16 seconds’ time limit to delete the sent message. But now, it looks like the meta-owned platform is planning to extend the time limit.

WhatsApp Delete for Everyone Feature May Get Extension
According to a report by WhatsApp features tracker Wabetainfo, the platform working to increase the time limit for the ‘Delete for Everyone’ to two days and 12 hours. This is an extension from the current one hour, eight minutes, and 16 seconds. So, if it rolls out the feature, users will be able to delete their messages even after two days of sending them.
WhatsApp is now planning to change the time limit from one hour, 8 minutes, 16 seconds to 7 days and 8 minutes. As usual, a message will be displayed saying “This was deleted by an admin”. This is notably not the first time WhatsApp is reported to have an extension for the ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature in the works. In November last year, reports of the platform planning to extend its time limit to more than seven days surfaced. However, it looks like that is not in the plan as of now.

The update is not yet visible even to beta testers. Similarly, the exact timeline on when it would arrive is not yet available. Meanwhile, WhatsApp is testing the iMessage-like message reactions feature yet again.As per Wabetainfo, WhatsApp is readying message reactions (secured by end-to-end encryption) in a new upcoming update of WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS.
How to delete a message you sent?
Whether you have accidentally sent over a message to the wrong person or a grammatically incorrect sentence, having the ability to delete it allows you to undo these mistakes. Once you successfully delete a message with the feature, it will be replaced with a message reading as “This message was deleted”. In order to do so, follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Firstly, open the WhatsApp application on your device. Then, go to the chat where you want a message to be deleted.
Step 2: Now, tap and long hold on the message to move forward with the WhatsApp Delete for Everyone feature. You will now get the option to choose multiple messages at once. Instead, look at the top right corner of your screen and you will see a recycle bin icon. Tap on this.
Step 3: Herein, you will get three options:
- Delete for Me
- Cancel, and
- Delete for Everyone

Tap on the Delete for Everyone option and your message will be erased from both yours’s and the receiver’s devices. This is how you can use the WhatsApp Delete for Everyone feature easily.
