Activision has been announcing new Call of Duty games later in the summer rather than earlier in recent years. Activision has officially confirmed two new Call of Duty games for 2022: a Modern Warfare revival and a Warzone 2 sequel.
According to Charlie Intel, Modern Warfare 2 may be on a whole new engine. The upcoming Call of Duty: Warzone “experience” will be powered by the same engine as the Modern Warfare 2 follow-up. The difficulty of merging material from Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard into Call of Duty: Warzone led to a single Call of Duty experience.

Call of Duty: Warzone has yet to announce its release date officially. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s sequel may or may not come this fall. After all, Call of Duty: Warzone was released around five months after 2019 Modern Warfare.
New Engine for Warzone 2
Fans don’t know what to expect from this new Warzone experience. According to CharlieIntel’s reporting, it’s supposed to be a “massive evolution of Battle Royale” with an “incredibly ambitious sandbox mode”. Exactly what this signifies is up in the air. Still, fans should expect to learn more in the coming months.
Even though a new Call of Duty: Warzone experience is currently under development, the existing Warzone version will not discontinue. As for the Warzone 2 Pacific map, Raven Software and Activision have accepted their error and are trying to fix it. Therefore, after the new Warzone experience opens, it’s unclear what will happen to the existing Warzone version.
