Sony has announced the new Sony PlayStation Plus tiers coming soon to several markets, including India. Recently, the SIE announced the details regarding the new but Indian pricing remained missing from the blog post. But, industry insider Rishi Alwani now reports the pricing for both PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium. Although sourced through retailers and not officially confirmed by Sony just yet.
Sony’s much-anticipated Sony PlayStation Plus tier subscription service, codenamed Spartacus, is now official. This move comes to serve as a competitor for Xbox Game Pass. Moreover, PlayStation Now, which offered a back catalogue of select games for free per month, no longer exists. Instead, Sony has decided to combine it with Playstation Plus to deliver an all-around monthly gaming experience. Let us look at the details of the subscription plans below.

PlayStation Plus isn’t exactly the same as Game Pass. For instance, PlayStation Plus will not offer day-one access to first-party games. PlayStation has an impressive collection of exclusives that will be part of the new service. The new PlayStation Plus tiers are explained below:

PlayStation Plus Essential
This is is the basic plan, which offers the same benefits members are receiving today. Such as two monthly downloadable games, exclusive discounts, cloud storage for saving game progress. Moreover, the ability to play online multiplayer on the console.
The price of the Sony PlayStation Plus Essential in India will be the same as the existing PlayStation Plus subscription. Here are the prices:
- 1 month – Rs 499
- 3 months – Rs 1,199
- 12 months – Rs 2,999

PlayStation Plus Extra
This plan will offer all the benefits of Essential along with up to 400 downloadable PS4 and PS5 games. It has additional benefits over Essential. So, Sony PlayStation Plus Extra will be priced comparatively higher. According to Sony, the catalogue includes “blockbuster hits” from their first-party PlayStation studios (exclusives) and some third-party titles as well – all available to download and play instantly. In India, it could be pricing somewhere around this in India:
- 1 month – Rs 800
- 3 months – Rs 2,000
- 12 months – Rs 5,000

PlayStation Plus Premium
Sony PlayStation Plus Premium provides all the benefits of Essential and Extra tiers. It comes with up to 340 additional games and time-limited game trials. The 340 games will include PS3 games via cloud streaming and PlayStation, PS2, PS4, and PSP games that will also be available to download and stream. Cloud streaming will be available in regions where PS Now is currently available, which unfortunately doesn’t include India. However, Sony will also offer PlayStation Plus Deluxe for select markets that don’t have access to cloud gaming.

It will price somewhere around this in India:
- 1 month – Rs 1,000
- 3 months – Rs 2,500
- 12 months – Rs 6,000
PlayStation Plus Deluxe
Sony PlayStation Plus Deluxe will be an alternative to PlayStation Plus Premium in regions where it won’t be available. It will come with downloadable PlayStation, PS2, and PSP games, time-limited game trials, as well as benefits from Essential and Extra tiers. However, the exact pricing of PlayStation Plus Deluxe isn’t revealed yet. But, Sony has said that it will be “offered at a lower price compared to Premium.”

Meanwhile, Sony will begin launching the new PlayStation Plus services in a phased regional manner. In June 2022, the service will begin rolling out in various markets in Asia, followed by North America and Europe, and then across the globe. From what we know so far, Sony is planning to make the service available in most regions by the end of the first half of 2022.
