  • Samsung launched its new Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series smartwatches during the Unpacked event. It comes with a range of new wellness capabilities such as body composition analysis and more robust sleep tracking. Moreover, it is also the first smartwatch to run on Google and Samsung’s new Wear OS smartwatch software. This will improve the Android smartwatch experience with faster performance and better app integrations. In addition, both smartwatches sport a circular dial and offer a minimalistic design.

    Pricing, Availability

    Both the smartwatches are available in two versions: Bluetooth and LTE options. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 price in the US starts at $249.99 (roughly Rs 18,600). It is also available in 2 different sizes: 40mm and 44mm. It comes in Black and Silver colour options. The Green colour option is exclusive to the 44mm variant. Whereas the 40mm variant gets an exclusive Pink Gold colour.

    Galaxy Watch 4 Classic

    On the other hand, this Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is available in 42mm, 46mm sizes. Its price starts at USD 349.99 (roughly Rs 26,050) for the 42mm Bluetooth variant. It comes in Black and Silver colour options. Whereas, it is $399.99 (Rs. 29,700) for the LTE model.

    On the availability part, Samsung will kick off the pre-orders for the smartwatches starting today in select markets across the globe. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic official availability will start from August 27. On the other hand, details about their India price and availability are yet to be revealed.

    Both smartwatches run on One UI Watch 3 based on the new Wear OS. On the display front, 40mm and 42mm watch feature a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with a 396×396 pixels resolution. Whereas, the Galaxy Watch 4 44mm and the Classic 46mm come with a 1.4-inch (450×450 pixels) AMOLED display. In both display sizes, you will get Gorilla Glass DX protection.

    Furthermore, Samsung smartwatches are powered by the new 5nm Exynos W920 processor. It comes paired with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. Samsung claims the smartwatches come with reliable battery life – up to 40 hours. Also, 30 minutes of charging will give you up to 10 hours of battery life.

    Now, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 runs on the all-new One UI Watch based on the new Wear OS, ditching the Tizen OS. The new software experience from Samsung and Google will offer a more expansive ecosystem with Google apps. It will also give more compatibility with Samsung’s fitness features and support for third-party apps. The new software also promises improved battery life, faster app loading, and smoother animations.

    Galaxy Watch 4 Classic

    Both Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic come with the company’s proprietary BioActive Sensor. It combines an optical heart rate sensor (PPG), an electrical heart rate sensor, and a bioelectrical impedance analysis sensor (BIA). This will enable a range of fitness and health tracking features, such as heart rate monitoring, SpO2 tracking, and sleep analysis. There is also electrocardiogram (ECG) support.

    Furthermore, they have features such as fall detection and analysis of menstrual cycles. It is, however, important to note that the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic both aren’t medically approved for any health-related diagnosis.
