  • Samsung officially launched the Samsung Galaxy S23 series on February 1, 2023. The lineup including the Samsung Galaxy S23 5G, Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus 5G, and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G smartphones was launched at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The latest flagship handsets feature a customised version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and sport Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays. Moreover, the S23 lineup is the brand’s first Samsung series to feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

    The company claims that the S23 series offer improved ‘Nightography’ capabilities over the Galaxy S22 series. The lineup models offer up to 120Hz refresh rate and feature 12-megapixel selfie cameras. Furthermore, the handsets run One UI 5.1 and have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.     Price And Availability

    For the base, 8GB + 128GB storage variant the vanilla model costs  $799 (roughly Rs. 65,500). Whereas the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus handset for the 8GB + 256GB storage option has a starting price of  $999 (roughly Rs. 81,900). The premium Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra costs $1199 (roughly Rs. 98,300) for the base 8GB + 256GB storage variant. As per the company, the handsets will be available in Phantom Black, Cream, Green and Lavender colour options.

    The handsets are currently up for pre-reservations in the country. However, details about the availability of the lineup in India will be announced on Thursday (February 2).

    The base model and the S23 Plus model feature almost similar specifications. They both offer a 6.1-inch full-HD Plus Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. The refresh rate can drop to as low as 48 Hz. Their displays come with a Vision Booster feature and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. Moreover, it can offer a 240Hz touch sampling rate in Game Mode. The handsets come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy along with 8GB of RAM. They run on Android 13 with One UI 5.1 on top. Moreover, both handsets have up to 512GB of inbuilt storage and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

    Both models feature a triple rear camera unit led by a 50-megapixel primary wide-angle sensor. Along with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera. Additionally, it includes a 12-megapixel selfie sensor with an 80-degree field of view. Furthermore, the handsets can support 8K video recording at 30 frames per second (fps), a 360-degree audio recording feature and more. The base model offers a 3,900mAh battery along with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging support. In contrast, the S23 Plus model comes with a 4,700mAh battery. Along with 45W wired charging support. Moreover, it supports Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 which offers 15W charging speeds and Wireless PowerShare support for reverse wireless charging.

    The premium offering from Samsung comes with a 6.8-inch Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with a dynamic refresh rate of 1–120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz in Game Mode. The handset comes with a custom version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, along with up to 12GB of RAM. Moreover, it runs on Android 13 with One UI 5.1 on top. The smartphone offers a 5,000mAh battery along with 45W wired charging support. It comes with Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 which offers 15W charging speeds. Additionally, it also offers Wireless PowerShare for charging other wireless charging-supported devices.

    The smartphone comes with a quad rear camera unit led by a 200-megapixel primary wide camera. Along with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and another 10-megapixel telephoto shooter with 10x optical zoom support. For the selfie camera, the smartphone comes with a 12-megapixel sensor with an 80-degree field of view. It comes with up to 1TB of onboard storage and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
