Xiaomi has officially hiked the prices of two of its popular Redmi branded phones, Redmi 9A and 9A Sport. The new prices are effective from today. Moreover, they are now reflecting on Amazon and Xiaomi websites. But the question stands, as to why there is a hike? It is likely because of the ongoing semiconductor issue affecting MediaTek and other chipmakers and OEMs.
Both the Redmi 9A and 9A Sport are powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 chipset. They come with up to dual-cameras, 5000mAh battery, HD+ display, and textured polycarbonate build. Here are the new increased prices and a recall to their specifications.

Redmi 9A and 9A Sport Specifications
Redmi9A sports a 6.53-inch HD+ display with 1600 X 720 pixels resolution and a waterdrop notch for the selfie snapper. It is powered by an entry-level MediaTek Helio G25 SoC coupled with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU, up to 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage that is further expandable via a microSD card.

Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 3.5mm audio jack. There is a 5,000mAh battery with no fast-charging support. The phone runs on Android 10 with MIUI 11 custom skin out of the box and has a 5-megapixel snapper for selfies and video chats. The Redmi 9A has a single 13-megapixel primary camera placed in a vertical module along with an LED flash.
On the other hand, the Redmi 9A Sport features a 6.53-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 1600×720 pixels, 400 nits of brightness and is certified by TÜV Rheinland.

Under the hood, it is powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 chipset. It comes paired with up to 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage that is further expandable via a microSD card. It has a 13-megapixel primary sensor and an AI secondary shooter with an LED flash. There is a 5-megapixel snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. It has a 5000mAh battery onboard and a P2i nano-coating. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The phone boots on MIUI custom skin out of the box.
