Qualcomm quietly announces the Snapdragon 778G 5G SoC with Kryo 670 CPU. It launched at the chipmaker’s 5G Snapdragon Summit on Wednesday. This is the latest Snapdragon 700-series SoC – sitting between Snapdragon 750G and Snapdragon 780G. To recall, it also comes as a successor to the Snapdragon 768G that debuted in May last year. Moreover, this latest chipset is aiming to deliver an enhanced multimedia experience using an all-new configuration. Additionally, Qualcomm claims that Snapdragon 778G is capable of delivering two times better artificial intelligence (AI) performance improvement. Especially when compared to the predecessor.

Furthermore, the new chip will power high-tier smartphones from companies including Honor, iQoo, Motorola, Oppo, Realme, and Xiaomi. The brands are yet to reveal on which device they will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G. However, Honor has confirmed it to be its Honor 50 series. Let’s take a look at more details on the new chipset.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G Features

The newly launched chipset is built using the 5-nanometer process instead of the 6nm process for the Snapdragon 780G. It features Kryo 670 CPU paired with Adreno 642L GPU and Spectra 570L ISP. The processor can deliver up to 40% faster graphics than the predecessor. Moreover, it comes integrated with Snapdragon X53 5G Modem-RF that delivers mmWave and sub-6 6G connectivity support. Qualcomm’s triple ISP allows users to capture photos and videos from wide, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras simultaneously.
