Earlier last week, Poco and Realme both extended their warranty period by 2 months considering the situation. However, now Oppo and Xiaomi are also joining the forces. According to the companies, both have extended warranties on their extended devices today. This will allow users to have their devices fixed if it runs out during the lockdowns.

Oppo, Xiaomi join the list of companies extending warranty periods
As per the tweet, Xiaomi devices that are reaching the end of their warranty by May or June can get an additional two-month extension. This will allow customers to still have their device serviced within warranty regulations for an additional two months till August. It is especially for those that expire in June. In addition, users can do it without having to leave their homes and visit a shop. Xiaomi customers can book an appointment for after-sales support from the website.

On the other hand, Oppo has announced it will extend warranties for all Oppo products till June 30. This is applicable to devices that will end their warranty during the lockdown. It includes smartphones, chargers, data cables, and earphones. The company launched a WhatsApp helpline number – 9871502777 – that will provide real-time status of operations to customers. Additionally, to provide better customer support, Oppo is implementing an AI-powered chatbot Ollie, which will be available 24×7. According to the company, Ollie can resolve 94.5 percent of customer queries. In case further troubleshooting is required, customers will have the choice to connect with Oppo online teams.

Furthermore, smartphone brands are trying to help customers who are reaching the end of their device warranties. As the ongoing lockdown prevents them from leaving their houses to get their phones or other devices serviced or repaired. However, one should note that the limitations and terms of the warranty remain the same.
