When reports first surfaced about OnePlus’s unconventional update policy—where the preinstalled OS was considered the first upgrade for both smartphones and smartwatches—many users turned to X to voice their concerns. Several questioned the logic behind counting the preinstalled OS as an upgrade, expressing frustration and disappointment over the approach. However, the company has now officially confirmed that this is not valid. Instead, they confirm that OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R will receive the OS updates until Android 19.
OnePlus 13 And 13R Eligible For Android 19
During their launch, the OnePlus 13 and 13R were assured four Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates.

However, the support page states that security updates will end in 2030 for the OnePlus 13 and in 2029 for the 13R, instead of 2031 as expected. This could simply be a typo, and hopefully, OnePlus will address the discrepancy. OnePlus has clarified that the preinstalled operating system will not be considered the first upgrade. Additionally, the OnePlus 13 series is confirmed to receive updates up to Android 19.
