OnePlus 6, 6T Starts Receiving Android 11-Based OxygenOS 11 Update

  • Earlier this year, OnePlus rolled out the beta Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 update for their OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. Furthermore, the first beta rolled out last month itself whereas, the second one rolled out later on. Now, both the device have started receiving the stable update. Moreover, it is an incremental update and shall gradually roll out to all devices, like any other OTA update.

    OnePlus took to their forum to announce that their 2018 flagships, the OnePlus 6 and 6T are now receiving the Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 stable update. It is good to finally see a stable update after their beta updates that rolled out recently. Moreover, the Open Beta 3 was the last of the beta updates and rolled out a couple of days before the stable update was announced.

    Furthermore, the stable version will be very similar to the Open Beta 3. This shall be the final test rollout before the official version is finally rolled out for the devices. Additionally, the Open Beta 3 for the OnePlus 6 series devices have brought some important changes based on the latest Android 11 OS. Besides, it is a huge difference when compared to the Android 10 OS.

    Additionally, the Open Beta 3 brings several optimisations which include a better battery life and VoWi-Fi fixes. Moreover, the playback on YouTube, Work-Life Balance feature and overall system stability has been optimised. The Open Beta 3 for the OnePlus 6 and 6T comes with a size of 191MB.

    Now, since the devices are pretty old now, being 2018 launches, this update will be pretty big. Moreover, the update is also much required to make these devices up-to-date as per today’s standards. The update brings UI design update, a new Insight Clock face integrated within the Ambient Display, camera UI update and a shortcut for Dark Mode. Additionally, it also brings a new self design alongside Game Space feature enhancements and updated animations for the weather feature.

    How to look for update?

    Users of the OnePlus 6 or OnePlus 6T can manually check for the update if they have not received a notification for it. To check for the Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 update, users need to navigate to Settings > System > System Updates.
