Nothing is planning to launch a new mid-range smartphone called the Nothing Phone (2a). The phone will likely be a cheaper version of its flagship, Nothing Phone (2).

A new leak has revealed the specifications and design of the Phone (2a) ahead of its official launch. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming Nothing Phone (2a), including its expected specs and price.

Nothing Phone (2a) Design Revealed

According to leaks, the Nothing Phone (2a) will bring a new design with a horizontal dual camera setup at the centre, hinting at a cheaper price tag. Furthermore, the phone will have three glyph lighting parts on the back, similar to other phones from the company.

Dylan Roussel, an X (Formerly Twitter) user, reveals the phone will have the model number A142 with the internal codename Pacman/Aero. Moreover, the Phone (2a) will use the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset, a first for the company and conscious design given the lower price.

It will be interesting to see how Carl Pei justifies the decision, given the company has an ongoing partnership with Qualcomm. This is the first time Nothing will use a MediaTek chipset instead of a Snapdragon one on its device.

Nothing Phone 2A Specifications Leaked

There is also a leaked image of the prototype version of the Phone (2a) that shows it running on Nothing OS 2.5.0. The Glyph Lights on the phone are smaller than the Nothing Phone (1) and the Nothing Phone (2).

Furthermore, the Nothing Phone (2a) will have a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen, which is great for the price. The phone will use the Dimensity 7200 chipset paired with up to 8GB of RAM. It will run on Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14 with 128GB internal storage.

The Dimensity 7200 processor announced earlier this year is a mid-range octa-core chipset. It packs two Cortex A715 cores and six Cortex A510 cores alongside Mali G610 MC4 GPU.

There will be a 50-megapixel dual camera setup on the back and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. Moreover, there will be redesigned glyphs with glyph controls similar to the Phone 2

Expected Price And Launch Date

The Phone 2a, with a mid-range price, is likely to arrive at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), which is held in February. Furthermore, the company has announced an event for February 27th with the tagline “Nothing to See”, hinting at the Phone 2(a) launch.
