Nokia has confirmed the launch of its first self-repairable phone, the Nokia G42, in India. The phone uses recyclable materials for the back and will be available exclusively on Amazon India.

The Nokia G42 features a 6.56-inch HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, it uses a tear-drop notch with Gorilla Glass 3 for protection and has a peak brightness of 560 nits.

It sports a Snapdragon 480+ processor paired with up to 6GB of RAM. It runs on Android 13 out of the box and comes with 128GB internal storage. This is further expandable up to 2TB via the micro-SD card slot.
The company promises 2 OS upgrades and 3 years of security updates. There is also support for up to 5GB virtual RAM in the phone.
For optics, there is a triple camera setup on the back with a 50-megapixel primary lens. It is paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor and a 2-megapixel macro lens.
The Nokia G42 packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 20W fast charging. The company claims this battery can be easily replaced and can last up to 3 days on a single charge. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi,5G, Bluetooth 5.1,3.5mm headphone jack, GPS, GLONASS and USB-Type C port.
Nokia partnered with iFixit to provide easy replacement parts and allow consumers to repair their devices at home. These include batteries, display, charging port and back cover for the next five years. If you perform a self-repair with authorised parts, then your warranty will still remain intact.
Nokia G42 India Launch: Pricing and Availability
The Nokia G42 will be exclusively available on the Amazon India website. It could arrive on September 6th in the country and will be available in So Grey and So Purple colours. It is 8.55mm thick and weighs around 193 grams. The phone is available in Europe for 250 Euros (around Rs.22,300).
