Apple surprisingly, at its “California streaming” event on September 14, 2021, unveiled the new iPad. All the rumours up until its launch hinted that it might not happen during this week. However, Apple has launched two of its lineup during the launch event along with Apple Watch Series 7. This new entry-level iPad (9th generation) comes with some significant changes. The launch event also brought the all-new iPad mini. Let us take a look at both of these devices specs, prices, and availability:

New iPad, iPad mini Price, Availability
The 9th-gen iPad starts at $329 (roughly Rs. 24,200). Whereas the new mini starts at $499 (roughly Rs. 36,700). Both new devices will be available for orders in the US starting today. It will go on sale from Friday, September 24. Details about the India availability of both the new models are yet to be announced.
In India, the 9th-gen iPad price India starts at ₹30,900 for the Wi-Fi-only model. Whereas the Wi-Fi + Cellular model starts at ₹42,900. It comes in storage models starting from 64GB. Moreover, it will be available in Space Gray and Silver colour options.

In contrast, the new iPad mini price in India starts at ₹46,900 for the Wi-Fi only model, whereas the Wi-Fi+ Cellular model starts at ₹60,900. It comes with 64GB and 256GB storage options. In addition, it is available in Black, White, Dark Cherry, English Lavender, and Electric Orange colours.
New iPad Specifications
It comes with the same 10.2-inch display size available on the earlier iPad models. However, this new model comes with True Tone support. It helps adjust screen colour temperature according to ambient lighting. The new model is also powered by the A13 Bionic chip. This chip debuted with the iPhone 11 in 2019. Apple will ship the new iPad with iPadOS 15, which launched back in June.

In addition to the new processor, there is a Neural Engine for enhanced performance. On the other hand, optics-wise, it comes with a 12-megapixel Ultra-Wide camera with a 122-degree field of view. It also supports the Center Stage feature that was first introduced on the iPad Pro. The ninth-generation model also includes an 8-megapixel camera sensor at the back.
Meanwhile, it still retains the Touch ID home button available on the previous iPad. However, it does support Apple accessories, including the Smart Keyboard and first-generation Apple Pencil. To recall, they were not supported by the earlier models. There is also support for third-party keyboards. Moreover, this new iPad comes in Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + 4G connectivity. It is bundled with a 20W USB-C Power Adapter.
iPad mini Specifications
This all-new mini variant comes with an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display. It is larger than the 7.9-inch screen available on the previous iPad mini. The display claims to support 500 nits of brightness with true tone and wide colour gamut. Another change is that it has no Face ID, but Touch ID is now integrated into the power button. Apple now brings a USB Type-C port to this model. It is Apple giving the most versatile port to the mini.

The new model is also powered by the latest A15 Bionic chip. It claims to deliver up to 80 per cent faster performance than the previous generation. The new iPad mini comes with a 12-megapixel Ultra Wide selfie camera with a 122-degree field of view. It also includes support for Center Stage from the iPad Pro. At the back, there is a 12-megapixel camera sensor that is paired with a True Tone flash and supports Smart HDR as well as 4K video recording.
Furthermore, the new iPad mini includes stereo speakers. On the connectivity front, it comes with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, and a USB-C port. There is also optional eSIM support to enable Gigabit LTE and 5G connectivity on the go. It comes with support for accessories, including the second-generation Apple Pencil and Smart Folio case.

iPad mini runs on iPadOS 15 and claims to deliver an all-day battery life on a single charge. Besides, it comes bundled with a 20W USB-C adapter.
