Netflix’s shuffle play feature is now available on Android mobile devices. The company began testing the Play Something feature in April, but it is now available worldwide on Android. The feature, which allows Netflix to determine what you want to watch, is currently available on TV and Android mobile devices, but not yet on iOS. Netflix, on the other hand, has stated that it will begin testing the shuffle function on iOS in the coming months.

These options may include, among other things, a movie or show you’re already viewing but haven’t finished, a movie or show on your watch list, or a brand-new series or film recommended by Netflix’s personalization algorithms.
Before its official release, the feature had been under development for some time. Netflix, for example, was experimenting with it as “Shuffle Play” last year. In addition, Netflix announced in its Q4 2020 earnings that it would roll out its shuffle mode to customers globally in the first half of 2021, portraying it as a way to “instantly watch a title” that was selected specifically for the individual.

At the time, the company stated that it would begin testing the feature on smartphone devices, beginning with Android. The tests were then started in late May. In other words, you may have had the feature on your Android device long before it had its “official” debut; but not all Netflix subscribers around the world have had the opportunity to use it yet. The “Play Something” button on mobile hovers over the content at the bottom of the screen as you scroll and has its own dedicated tab in the app.
Separately, Netflix’s Fast Laughs feature, is now available on Android mobile devices in select regions; which debuted on iOS earlier this year. This includes the United States, Australia, Canada, Ireland, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom. The application functions as a highlight reel of humorous clips from the company’s shows and films. It’s similar to TikTok, but it’s only for Netflix comedies.
