Motorola has launched their Motorola Defy smartphone. The rugged smartphone has gone official in the European and LATAM markets. Also, some reports reveal that the smartphone won’t launch in India. The smartphone has been launched as a military grade rugged phone that can survive extremes of conditions.
According to Motorola, the smartphone comes with a dual-sealed casing. This allows the smartphone to survive 5 feet under water for up to 35 minutes. The smartphone comes with IP68 military standard certification as well.

Moreover, the smartphone is sand, dust, dirt and humidity resistant as well. Additionally, Motorola states that the smartphone has been put through several vibration and tumble tests as well. The smartphone is capable of withstanding repeated drops from a height of 6 feet. Moreover, the phone comes with MIL-SPEC 810H extreme temperature survivability. Additionally, the Motorola Defy smartphone is also washable with soaps and mild disinfectants.
Motorola Defy Specifications
The Motorola Defy comes with a large 6.5-inch HD+ display. Additionally, the display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection as well. The latest Motorola rugged smartphone runs on Android 10 with the company custom OS on top. Moreover, the company claims that Android 11 will be rolling out for the device soon.
On the processor front, the smartphone carries the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC. Additionally, the octa-core chipset is paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Furthermore, the internal storage on the device is expandable as well via a microSD card slot. Also, the smartphone comes with dual-SIM support.
The Motorola Defy features a triple rear camera setup. The setup includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an aperture of f/1.8. Additionally, the smartphone comes with two other 2-megapixel sensors for depth and macro takes, respectively. On the front, the handset comes with an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls.

The Motorola Defy packs a massive 5,000mAh battery along with 20W TurboPower fast charging support. Motorola claims that the battery on the smartphone can give a two days backup. However, this is just an estimate and will heavily depend from person to person. The smartphone also comes with all the essential connectivity options. These options include a USB Type-C port, Bluetooth v5, NFC, VoLTE alongside a conventional 3.5mm audio jack. Lastly, the smartphone also comes with a programmable shortcut key with the Push-to-Talk (PTT) mode.
Price & Availability
The latest rugged Motorola Defy price is set at EUR 329 or GBP 279. This converts to approximately Rs. 29,000 and Rs. 28,700 respectively, in India. Moreover, this is the price set for the single 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant of the smartphone. The rugged smartphone comes in two color options namely Black and Forged Green. Additionally, the company is also offering a 2-year warranty on the device alongside Android Enterprise support. Also, the smartphone will see a security updates coverage for two years.

As far as availability is concerned, the Motorola Defy has been launched in the European and LATAM markets for now. It will go on sale in these regions in the coming weeks. However, the India launch of the product is not in the books as of now.
