A new flagship Microsoft Surface laptop could be coming later this year which might replace the Surface Book range entirely. Moreover, it looks like it will have a major shift in design philosophy. According to a source, Microsoft will drop the idea of the detachable 2-in-1 like its previous laptops. However, produce a laptop that offers a different trick with the screen. In turn, allowing it to extend and rotate to different angles.

Microsoft Surface brand is especially famous for its inspirational design. Previously, this lineup brought a revolutionary approach to Microsoft’s hardware line-up. It stood out with its detachable screen, allowing the Surface Book to become a de-facto Surface Tablet. However, when it first launched it stood out. Now, many other brands have adopted this tech. There is nothing new Microsoft Surface books offers now. Although it looks like it is going to change soon.

This hinge mechanism we are talking about is already on the Microsoft Surface Studio right now. It sports the same tilting and lifting hinge that allows the monitor to be set at a convenient angle. However, as we know, it’s not portable. So what if this hinge mechanism comes to the laptop? It will make it portable and unique than ever.
Unlike the display coming off, the Microsoft Surface Book will be on an innovative stand mechanism. This allows it to be pulled towards the user, and rotated to lie almost flat. This way it can be used for writing or drawing if needed – mirroring the Surface Studio in that respect. Hence the possible name of the Surface Laptop Studio, which would tie in with all this.

However, one should note that at this point it is speculation based on the fact that Microsoft is apparently doing something new in terms of ditching the detachable model. In addition, a recently found patent showing off this apparent hinge mechanism. This is just putting two and two together for now. At this point, we cannot be sure of anything but just speculate on Microsoft Surface Book new lineup.
