NT$43.502 billion (about $1.55 billion) was MediaTek’s consolidated revenue in January 2022. It is up 23.1per cent from the previous year but down 5.8per cent month-over-month. In comparison to December 2021, the start of this quarter has been rather rough. But MediaTek remains hopeful about the overall quarter’s results.

In the first quarter of 2022, Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC predicted that revenue would be between NT$131.2 billion (around $4.7 billion) and NT$141.5 billion (around $5.1 billion). Which is an increase of about 2per cent to 10per cent over the previous quarter. And also a rise of 21per cent to 31per cent compared to the same period in 2019. (via IT Home).
Increased 5G penetration and the introduction of its flagship chip Dimensity 9000, which Cai Lixing claims may counter the effect of low seasonal demand for certain consumer items, are driving MediaTek’s revenue growth, he adds.
MediaTek is riding the wave of expansion
MediaTek’s yearly sales topped $17.6 billion last year. A 53.2 per cent rise over the previous year, according to the company’s financial report from 2021. In the fourth quarter of 2021, sales amounted to NT$128.6 billion (about $4.7 billion). That too with an increase of 33.5 per cent from the same time in 2018.

Although it shipped more smartphone processors in China than Qualcomm in 2013, the company is doing reasonably well overall. In comparison to the 77.4 million devices supplied in 2020, MediaTek expects to ship 110 million units in 2021.
