Leica Launches Their Leitz Phone 1 Smartphone In Japan

Camera maker Leica has come up with their first smartphone in Japan. The phone is named the Leica Leitz Phone 1 and is exclusive to the Japanese market. Leica is German company that has been in business for over a 150 years now. The company has finally ventured into the smartphone market with this offering.

The smartphone comes with a massive camera sensor at the back with other interesting features. Moreover, the smartphone also comes with a Leica branded lens cap at the back. This particular smartphone is definitely a treat to the eyes to all the photographers out there.

Leica Leitz Phone 1 Specifications

The Leitz Phone 1 comes with very interesting specifications along with a flagship processor. The smartphone is clearly targeted towards camera lovers and the budding photographers out there. Moreover, the flagship chipset will also allow them to process images and play all the high-end games without any hassle.

For starters, the Leica smartphone comes with a large 6.6-inch IGZO OLED display. Additionally, the display on the smartphone comes with a resolution of 2,730 x 1,260 pixels. Moreover, the smartphone also comes with a super fast refresh rate of a whopping 240Hz.

On the processor front, the Leica Leitz Phone 1 comes with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. The octa-core chipset is paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Additionally, the internal storage on the handset is expandable via a microSD card slot. Also, the smartphone runs on Android 11 with the company’s custom skin on top. The latest device by Leica also carries an IP68 rating for protection from spills.

For photos and videos, the smartphone comes with a massive 1-inch primary camera sensor at the back. This big sensor is a 20-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/1.9. Additionally, the camera comes with an equivalent focal length 19mm. On the front, the smartphone comes with a 12.6-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls. Lastly, the Leica Phone 1 packs a massive 5000mAh battery as well.

Price & Availability

The Leitz Phone 1 price in Japan is set at JPY 187,920. This converts to approximately Rs. 1,25,592 or $1700. When it comes to the availability of the smartphone, it is exclusive to the Japanese market only. The smartphone will be available for pre-ordering from June 18 in Japan.
