Google Pixel 7 lineup had a successful sales year thanks to two of the best smartphones of 2022. However, Google is not resting on its laurels. The company is taking chances with the upcoming Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro leaks. Recent leaks suggest that Google is willing to push the envelope with its design choices.
However, these choices have been divisive among users. Google remains committed to innovation and keeping up with the evolving smartphone market. The designs for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have been leaked, revealing that Google will go against the grain by shrinking the screens on both devices.

Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro Display Leaks
The leaks suggest that the Pixel 8 has a relatively small 5.8-inch display. Compared to the Pixel 7’s 6.3-inch screen, this decreases by 0.6 inches (or 1.5 cm). The Pixel 8 is 0.2 mm thinner and 5.1 mm shorter and narrower than its predecessor, measuring 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9 mm.
The Pixel 8 is the same thickness as the 6.1-inch Pixel 6a but is shorter and narrower by 1.7 mm. Pixel 8’s 5.8-inch screen fills a gap for compact flagship Android devices.
In theory, this is a good idea, but several red flags exist. Due to poor sales, Apple has discontinued the 5.5-inch iPhone Mini series (12 and 13). Google’s assertion is that Apple overlooked the 5.8-inch sweet spot, making Android users the exception.
According to the leaks, the Pixel 8 Pro will have a 6.52-inch screen, smaller than the 6.7-inch screen on the Pixel 7 Pro. Although this reduction is less noticeable, it may not be accurate since leaks have also shown dimensions practically identical to its predecessor (162.6 x 76.5 x 8.7 mm) and — contradictorily — smaller bezels on all sides.
Images show that the Pixel 8 also has thinner bezels and that both phones have more rounded backs for improved ergonomics while holding the devices. The Pixel Pro is here, and the purchasers are ecstatic!
Pixel 8 has improved rear cameras with a new design, and the 8 Pro has a single cutout for all three cameras. Both phones share the same performance and cameras, unlike Pro and non-Pro iPhones. Pixel 8 and 8 Pro may have the same Tensor 3 chip and camera setup, unlike Pro and non-Pro iPhones.
