Google has officially announced the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, which will be available later this year. Both smartphones have been announced, and they appear to be considerably different from previous-generation Pixel phones in terms of style. Along with the revamped design, Google has followed Apple’s approach and used its own Tensor SoC to power the two phones. When the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will launch this fall, they will arrive with Android 12 and Google’s Material You design approach.

Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro Design Details
Google’s Senior Vice President of Devices and Services, Rick Osterloh, revealed the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones in a blog post. Instead of the usual XL model, Google has decided to entirely revamp the Pixel phone and add a Pro variant. The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have the same general design, with the exception of the screen size, camera lenses, and a few features. The camera module is a protruding strip, termed the “camera bar” by Google, that runs through the width of the smartphones and houses larger sensors than the previous Pixel phones.

The Google Pixel 6 series keeps the dual-tone design, with the power and volume buttons on the right side with a vacant left. The Pro variant has a polished aluminium frame, whereas the non-Pro version has a matte aluminium frame. The selfie camera has a single, centrally situated hole-punch design, and each model appears to have three colour options.

Google Will Use Its Own SoC in Upcoming Phones
Google has put its custom-built SoC named Tensor on the inside, which will soon power the Pixel phones. When it comes to computational photography models, Tensor provides for “entirely new features, plus improvements to existing ones”. The Pixel 6 series also features a new security core and Titan M2 security chip, according to Google; giving it the “most layers of hardware security in any phone.”
Google stated at Google I/O in May that the Pixel 6 series would run Android 12 with Material You design.
