Google Pixel 5a To Reportedly Launch In August

The Google Pixel 5a has surfaced online and a report by Bloomberg has revealed something significant. According to the report by Bloomberg, the Google Pixel 5a launch will take place in August of this year itself. Moreover, the report also suggests that the smartphone will go on sale in the very same month.

Previously, the smartphone was considered to be cancelled by Google. However, it definitely does not seem the case as Bloomberg has revealed that the Pixel 5a is actually in the works. Furthermore, the Google Pixel 5a reportedly comes with the codename “Barbet”. Also, the device will reportedly be similar to last year’s Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G devices.

Another important thing to note is that although nothing has been revealed about the India launch of the smartphone, it has been spotted in the BIS certification website. The Pixel 5a making an appearance in the Bureau of Indian Standards listing does suggest that the smartphone will most likely come to India as well. This is great news for all the Pixel fans out there. However, till the company officially confirms it all, we recommend taking it with a pinch of salt.

Google Pixel 5a Launch: What Else?

The possibility of the Google Pixel 5a is major as Mark Gurman of Bloomberg revealed it via his weekly newsletter. His weekly newsletter ‘Power On’ reveals that the Google Pixel 5a will be launched in August. Previous reports have suggested that there is a Google Pixel 5a. However, the report by Gurman does not reveal the variant of the device. It could be both 4G and 5G variants of the upcoming smartphone that will launch in August. Moreover, Google has confirmed that the Google Pixel 5a 5G will be announced later this year. However, the exact timeline is currently under wraps.

A thing to note here is that the Pixel 4a was launched sometime in August last year. This definitely hints at the possibility of the Pixel 5a to launch in the same time this year. Besides, the Google Pixel 5a has been in the rumor mill for quite some time now.

Some of the previous reports had also suggested that the smartphone could launch as early as June of this year. That is not a possibility anymore so nothing can be confirmed as of now about this smartphone. Other reports have also suggested that the Google smartphone will be launched in the US and Japan markets as well. Moreover, the Google Pixel 5a has also made an appearance on the Indian BIS certification website. This definitely hints at the India launch of the smartphone.

Expected Specifications

Although nothing has been leaked on the specifications front of the smartphone much, we know a couple of things. Steve Hemmerstoffer, the noted tipster known as OnLeaks, has leaked a few things. Hemmerstoffer leaked the smartphone to come with the same camera setup as the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5.

Additionally, he also said that the smartphone comes with a very similar design statement as the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5. On the processor front, the upcoming Google device is said to carry the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SOC. This processor powers the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 as well.
