God of War Ragnarok Unveiled At PlayStation Showcase 2021

  • When God of War was released for PlayStation exclusively back in 2018, fans of the franchise were over the top excited. The God of War franchise is hands down one of the oldest and most popular franchises ever made for PlayStation. All the games in the series have been massive hits and with, God of War Ragnarok, the streak is still on.

    God of War Ragnarok will be releasing as a direct sequel and takes place after the events of the 2018 title. PlayStation Showcase 2021 unveiled the trailer and the entire console gaming community was taken by storm. However, Cory Barlog, the director for the 2018 game, will not be returning for this title. Instead, Eric Williams will be taking over for Ragnarok.

    God of War Ragnarok: Gameplay, Characters and More

    The trailer showcases a bunch of different characters, some familiar, some not. We can see an angry Freya attacking God of War aka Kratos as they have an intense fight scene in the ice. Now, this is from the events of the previous game where Kratos had to kill Freya’s son. God of War Ragnarok is a direct sequel to the previous game and events after we see Thor towards the very end of God of War 2018. Moreover, from the looks of it, the world will be significantly larger than what we saw in the 2018 game.

    In addition, the game also reveals a world where players get to see an actual civilization. This will definitely be more grounded to a proper sandbox experience. We can see Kratos and Artreus aka Loki, travelling the diverse world. We can see two completely contrasted settings, one in the extreme cold whereas, the other set in a warm marketplace like setting.

    Moreover, we can also understand from the trailer that Thor, voiced by Ryan Hurst and Odin, voiced and played out by Thomas Schiff will be making an appearance in the game. Who knows, we might have some intense end-game boss battles with these two Norse Gods. Most interestingly, we also come across Tyr, who is regarded as the “old God of War”.

    Additionally, we also see Angrbooa, who is one of the last surviving giants. The game director Eric Williams has confirmed that with this title, God of War’s Norse mythology saga will finally come to an end. Moreover, he also states that players will indeed get to see Ragnarok take place in the game.
