iPhone 12 To Receive A Software Update
Apple plans to release a new software update to fix the electromagnetic emissions in the iPhone 12 model. France’s National Frequency Agency (ANFR) has raised concerns that the device exceeds the permitted Specific Absorption Rates (SAR) values. This value measures the rate at which the human body can absorb the radiation emitted from a device.

What Is The iPhone 12 Radiation Issue?
France tested over 141 mobile phones for radiation. It found that the electromagnetic energy absorption emitted by the iPhone 14 is 5.74 watts per kilogram. This is way higher than the EU’s 4 watts per kilogram standard. The French watchdog announced that Apple had failed to meet the radiation regulation levels and banned the smartphone’s sale. It urged the Cupertino giant to release a fix to address this issue immediately.

Moreover, other European countries like Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands are also investigating the issue and have asked Apple to issue a software update. While it is unclear how the software update will do, it will try to reduce the emission levels on the iPhone 12. The company has instructed all its employees not to comment on the radiation issue and to perform a safety check on all products before they go on sale.
Apple discontinued the iPhone 12 after the radiation issue emerged and stopped manufacturing the device. However, the phone will be available for sale until the stock lasts, and the iPhone 12 will still receive software updates.
