Apple announced that its big launch event on September 14, 2021. We are expecting the launch of its flagship smartphone iPhone 13 series alongside the Apple Watch Series 7. Although there is no confirmation – it is almost a given during an event at this time of the year. Now, as is tradition, the leaks of an upcoming product start surfacing way before its launch, the rumours and leaks for the Watch Series 7 is on an all-time high. Reports from various sources hinted that Apple has run into production issues with the Watch 7 trial run. Specifically, considering the assumption that it will feature a new design, and assemblers have had to deal with unspecified issues.

Apple Watch Series 7 will feature a new design with a flat-edged look that’s similar to the flat edges used for the iPhone 12 and iPad Pro. According to Kuo, the new Apple Watch had to go through more production processes than previous models. This is mainly due to the “dramatic” change in the design.
The production issue of the Apple Watch Series 7 is mainly related to the panel side. However, it is now not a problem, and mass production of panel modules will start in mid-September.

This kind of issue is kind of expected with its aim to bring an iPhone 12-esque look for the Apple Watch Series 7 with flat sides and squared-off edges. However, Kuo says Apple and its suppliers have now overcome those issues. He also mentions the mass production will be beginning soon. The analyst expects the new Watch lineup to launch in late September.

Moreover, the size of the displays may increase noticeably. The surrounding screen bezel will be reduced compared to current models. Bloomberg previously reported that the 45mm Apple Watch Series 7 will sport 16 per cent more pixels than the current 44mm model it replaces. Kuo also notes that the first batches of Series 7 watches were afflicted by the blinking panel and touch screen sensitivity problems. However, the analyst believes Apple and its suppliers have recently resolved the panel module issues. They are now ready for imminent mass production, with mass shipments coming later in the month.
Meanwhile, Kuo did not provide an actual release date for the Apple Watch Series 7. We will have to wait for Apple to reveal the date and prices on Tuesday during the iPhone 13 event.
