When Google first released the output switcher function with Android 11, it allowed users to switch audio output without opening the phone’s settings. However, it did not include Chromecast and Google cast devices. But, with the new Android 13 stable QPR1 (Quarterly Platform Release 1), it is rolling out the output switcher support for Chromecast, starting with YouTube Music.
Chromecast is a smart gadget in the TV’s HDMI port to stream content from your phone directly onto the big screen. However, the QPR1 update is currently only available for Google phones such as the Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro. In the foreseeable future, Android devices may receive the update too.
As reported by 9to5Google, the Pixel 7 phones running the stable Android 13 QPR1 December release have started showing Chromecast devices in the output switcher, starting with Youtube Music.
