Amazon India partnered up with Amitabh Bachchan last year to roll out his voice support for their Amazon Alexa assistant. Bachchan has immediately become the very first Indian celebrity to voice the popular Alexxa voice assistant. This adds to the list of celebrities like Samuel L. Jackson and other popular celebrities from across the globe.
Further, users who purchase Amitabh Bachchan’s voice support for Amazon Alexa are in for an exciting ride. They can listen to renowned poet and Amitabh Bachchan’s father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s poetry in his voice. Moreover, users can also listen to stories from Bachchan’s life in his very own voice. In addition, users can also listen to tongue twisters, motivational quotes and Bachchan’s favourite songs in his voice as well.

Amazon is also working towards rolling out Amitabh Bachchan’s signature style. This particular style will extent to user’s asking for music, alarms and weather updates as well. However, it is a paid feature and users need to pay an introductory fee of Rs. 149. Now, this fee will be later set to Rs. 299 per year.
Amazon Alexa X Amitabh Bachchan: What More?
Once users purchase the service and activates it, they can say, “Alexa, enable Amit Ji wake word.” Now, this particular wake word will work along with the default “Alexa” wake word. Additionally, users can call the voice assistant via the “Alexa” wake word and simultaneously, say “Amit Ji” to speak with the actor’s voice. Users can say, “Amit Ji, play songs from Kabhi Kabhi” or “Amit Ji, Sholay ke gaane bajaiye” which allows them to listen to some classic tracks from the actor’s popular movies.

Users of the new feature can also ask Amazon Alexa to narrate a funny story in the Bachchan’s voice. Besides, there are a lot of things that the new Bachchan voice assistant can do and users need to play around with it to find out more. In addition, the new avatar of voice assistant can answer queries in both Hindi and English, which comes as an added benefit.

However, users need to note this that Bachchan’s voice won’t be answering all sorts of queries. There is a limit to it and arithmetic problems or geographical questions will be answered by Amazon Alexa’s default voice. This is an intentional move by the company as the idea for a makeover of their voice assistant is to provide variety but not complete replace it. For now, Amitabh Bachchan’s voice is limited Amazon Echo devices. Android users of the Amazon shopping app can interact using the new voice but only in English for now.
