Bharti Airtel Limited has successfully conducted India’s first cloud-gaming session in a 5G environment. This demonstration happened in Manesar (Gurgaon) as part of the ongoing 5G trials. It happened using the spectrum allotted by the Department of Telecom (Government of India). Moreover, we know it is currently testing out 5G connectivity on a test network allotted by the Department of Telecom (DoT). In addition, they are pushing cloud gaming as one of the primary use cases of 5G connectivity.

Airtel 5G Likely to Come Early Next Year
Airtel partnered with Blacknut cloud gaming service and two popular Indian online streamers Mortal (Naman Mathur) and Mamba (Salman Ahmed). Cloud gaming is expecting to become the new normal for users. The users will be able to enjoy a high-end console-like gaming experience on smartphones and tablets while on the move.
For the unversed, cloud gaming is an extension of online gaming that allows users to run the entirety of a game online without requiring them to download it first. It also requires high-speed low-latency internet connectivity that an Airtel 5G network will offer. Now, Airtel has revealed that for its latest 5G trials, it connected a smartphone to a 3500MHz spectrum band. It also delivered speeds over 1Gbps and a latency in the range of 10milliseconds.

Cloud gaming will be one of the biggest use cases of 5G with the combination of high speed and low latency. After delivering India’s first Airtel 5G demo over a test network, we are thrilled to conduct this exciting 5G gaming session. Meanwhile, Airtel also demonstrated 5G services over a 4G network earlier this year. It is currently conducting trials across different Indian cities and has partnered with Ericsson and Nokia for these trials.
