Minecraft Legends Announced: Here’s What You Should Know!

Minecraft has been one of the most popular video games of the modern era. With over 200 million copies sold since its release, the game has won the hearts of gamers worldwide. Nobody thought that a game, released at a time when graphical powerhouses were dominating the market, would break all barriers. However, Minecraft has and will continue to be one of the best games as it brings in total freedom to players. Due to its success, it was only a matter of time before another Minecraft game was announced. While Minecraft Legends isn’t a sequel and is identified as a spin-off, it’s still a new game in the works. This article will give you all the important details you need about Minecraft Legends.

What is Minecraft Legends?

Minecraft Legends is an action and strategy game that will incorporate all the major parts of the first game. However, things will be slightly different as it will feature more action and adventure than what was available in the previous entry. In this game, you will travel across different areas in the Overworld and join hands with enemies from the first Minecraft game. Now, you will have to survive, gather resources, and strategise against the onslaught of the Piglins. The Nether has corrupted the rest of the Overworld, and it’s your job to stop the corruption from spreading.

Release date

Mojang, the creators of Minecraft, haven’t given a specific release date yet. Instead, we know that the game will release sometime in 2023. It was revealed to players via the Xbox showcase held in June 2022. We can expect Minecraft Legends to release by the second quarter of 2023 since Microsoft has been concentrating on games that will release within the following year.

Gameplay

The game will feature elements from the first game’s survival mode, with players having to survive, craft, and gather resources. You’ll also be able to recruit the mobs ruling the Overworld and unite them against a common enemy in the Piglins. If you’ve watched the trailer, you’ll notice that the worlds are pretty detailed and feature enhanced graphics. Moreover, the player can be seen on horseback, taking the lead against the corrupted forces. It looks like there will be a few key gameplay elements that are comparatively new.

As you can see from the trailer, the game will focus more on action elements than in the previous entry. The player can ride on horseback, swinging their trusty sword at the enemies. Furthermore, there are different areas to inspect and collect resources as you continue building your defences and strengthening your army. We’re still waiting to see more of the strategy elements in the game, however.

Multiplayer

The game will feature multiplayer elements, and both Microsoft and Xbox have confirmed it. This will include co-op events and a competitive multiplayer mode. We’re not quite sure yet about the multiplayer gameplay, as the developers are yet to reveal more on that front.

Crossplay

Since Microsoft and Xbox are trying to introduce more crossplay between related platforms, crossplay should be present in Minecraft Legends. Taking this into consideration, we can safely assume that crossplay in Minecraft Legends will be present for Xbox and PC players. Moreover, Mojang did add crossplay to Minecraft Dungeons later on. So, it’s not like they’re strangers to the technology and its implementation.

Platforms

Minecraft Legends will be available on all the major platforms. This means you can play the game on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch. That’s quite a lineup for compatibility!

The Minecraft Legends system requirements are available on the game’s Steam page. So, we can consider the following to be the official system requirements. However, since the game will be tested till its release in 2023, expect some requirements to change.
