Instagram is rolling out a new feature namely, Vanish mode. It allows users to send disappearing messages. You can use this feature in their DMs (Direct Messages) which is part of one of the latest updates. Moreover, it essentially allows users to share something silly or embarrassing and then immediately forget about it by vanishing the entire chat.

The Facebook-owned company, Instagram announced the arrival of the feature last month. Since then, select users in India started receiving the new feature. However, it appears that the Vanish mode is now rolling out to a wider audience.
To avail of this feature, users check the availability of Vanish mode on Instagram, you need to get the latest version of the app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Unlike Snapchat, you can choose which user you want to have the vanish mode on with. However, let us look at how you can use this feature:

How To Use Vanish Mode on Instagram
– Open Instagram and open up the chat you want to enable vanish mode on.
– At the end of the chat you will see the “Swipe up to turn on vanish mode”.
– Swipe up. And you are done.

Users can deactivate the Vanish mode by swiping up from the bottom of the screen or selecting the “turn off vanish mode” button. In case the receiver in the DM has not activated Vanish mode, Instagram will send an alert to the user. It will say “sent in vanish” along with the main message.
You can basically toggle between the two modes in a chat. You can turn it on for a few messages or photos, which will disappear the very moment they have been read/seen. Then you can turn it back again and carry on with your normal chat that does not disappear.
