Steps To Enable High Priority Notifications WhatsApp:

Currently, high priority notifications are only available in the beta version of WhatsApp. If you’re not a beta tester, you won’t have this feature yet. However, there are still ways to manage your notifications (more on that later).

Here are the steps to prioritise messages from either personal chats or groups or both.

• Open the app and go to your WhatsApp settings by clicking on the three dots on the top corner of the right-hand side.
• Select ‘Settings’ from the drop-down menu.
• Next, go to ‘Notifications’.
• Scroll down, and you will find the toggle switch for high-priority messages separately for messages and groups.
• Switch any or each of them on according to your preference.

Note: Even with high priority notifications, you won’t see the entire message content on your lock screen due to privacy concerns.

Get The Beta Version

If you want to start using the beta version of WhatsApp, just go to Google PlayStore and search for WhatsApp. once you open the App download page, scroll down past the app description, images, and similar apps. You will see an option saying, “Become a beta tester” panel. Click on the button that says “I’m in”. After this step, you can open the app and follow the above steps, as mentioned, for high-priority settings.

Customise High Priority Notifications On WhatsApp:

If you are not a big fan of the WhatsApp beta version and want to avoid using it altogether, you can still prioritise your important messages with several customisation options in notifications.

• Open WhatsApp and go to then open the chat you want to prioritise.
• Tap on their name to open their WhatsApp profile.
• Scroll down and find the ‘custom notifications’ option.
• Click on it and tick the box for ‘custom notifications’. The custom options will appear. Change tone, vibrate intensity, light, and ringtone, whichever way it suits you.

Pin The Important Chat

If you want to prioritise specific chats inside WhatsApp, then pinning the chat would be your best option. This way you get the chat on top even when you open the app. Thus, saving you the trouble to quickly find the specific chat from the bunch of other unread ones. To pin, open WhatsApp and follow the below steps:

• Find the chat you want to see on top.
• Long press on the chat for selection.
• On the top, you will find the pin option. Click on it and pin the chat.

Mute Unimportant WhatsApp Chats:

For less important chats or group messages that are irrelevant, you can mute the notifications entirely. However, you will still see the message when you open the app. This will somewhat help you receive multiple high priority notifications on WhatsApp while completely ignoring the muted ones.

To mute the chat, open the chat and click on the three dots in top right corner. Select ‘mute notifications’ from drop-down list. Choose the duration for which you want the chat to be in mute state. Proceed.
