Modes to change name in Aadhaar Card
With the arrival of the new Aadhaar Services updates on the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website, you can change your biometric details and demographic details online. Changing your name, biometric details, and demographic details is an easy process. You can do so by visiting the official website of UIDAI and then following the instructions to change the information.
Getting your name changed on your Aadhaar card can be quickly done, along with changing your Biometric information. In contrast, the Biometric information can still be changed for free, but getting your name changed on your Aadhaar card may cost you 50rs. The same sort of charges will be applied to any updates that you get done on the things that are not under the ambit of mandatory type.
There are 2 ways through which you change name in Aadhaar card-

Online Mode
You can change name in Aadhaar card through online mode at any point of time by visiting the UIDAI website, but make sure that before you proceed with the name changing process, your mobile number is linked with your Aadhaar card to ensure that the updates do take place.

Change name in Aadhaar Card via online mode
To change name in Aadhaar card, you can do the following via online mode-
Step 1- Open the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal
Step 2- On the new window you have opened, click on the ‘Login’ option.
Step 3- Punch in your 12-digit Aadhaar card number, then enter the captcha code and click on the option ‘Send OTP’.
Step 4- Punch in the OTP received on the registered mobile number so that you can have access to your Aadhaar account.
Step 5- Under the ‘Services’ option, select the ‘Update Aadhaar Online’ option to change name in Aadhaar card along with other relevant changes, if required.
Step 6- Now, select the ‘Proceed to update Aadhaar’ option on the next page.
Step 7- Select the Aadhaar details that you want to be updated and then click on ‘Proceed to update Aadhaar’.
Step 8- Now, you should be able to see the details that are currently on your existing Aadhaar card. Now, punch in the details that you want to be modified/changed and upload scanned copies of the supporting documents.
Step 9- Ultimately, have a look at the preview of the modified details and pay the online fee for the modification as Rs.50(this amount is non-refundable). You can pay this amount via debit/credit card or net banking.

Once the payment is made, an Update Request Number(URN) is created that can be used to check your progress of the Aadhaar card’s update requisition. Any modification in Aadhaar cards is usually processed within 5 to 7 days. Once the changes on your Aadhaar card are in effect, you can download your new updated Aadhaar card and also get your Aadhaar card printed out.

Offline Mode

- Fill out the Aadhaar correction form and ensure that you enter the correct information, not the one cited in your Aadhaar.
- Bring self-attested copies of proofs that will validate your update request and offer the form along with such documents.
- Pay the fee to the Aadhhaar Enrolment Centre or the Aadhaar Seva Kendra for such updates or modifications.

In the final analysis, whether you make one alteration or more than one, costs for the Aadhaar card update will remain as Rs.100 (if you are getting Biometrics updated) and Rs. 50 (if the demographic details are just being updated).
