Amidst the Coronavirus lockdown where smartphone sales are suffering, Chinese smartphone maker Huawei’s sub-brand Honor launched the Honor 30S in China. Unfortunately, there is no word on its arrival in the international markets, including India.
The device comes at a price tag of CNY 2,399 (roughly Rs. 25,500) for the base 8GB + 128GB model. Users can boost the spec-sheet by getting the top-end 8GB + 256GB version for CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs. 29,000). An interesting thing about the Honor 30S is that it introduces Huawei’s new Kirin 820 5G chipset for the first time to users.

Honor 30S Specifications
The specifications of the Honor 30S are modestly planned with nothing much out of the ordinary. The device gets a 6.5-inch full HD+ (1080×2400 pixel resolution) display with a layer of scratch-resistant glass on top. With HDR 10 support, we get the notch design replaced by the modern punch-hole housing a 16MP f/2.0 front-facing camera.
Powering the Honor 30S is Huawei’s new HiSilicon Kirin 820 5G chipset, which is claimed to be a major boost over the Kirin 810 and even the Snapdragon 855. The chipset uses a Mali-G57 MC6 GPU along with GPU Turbo and is clubbed with 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage.

Rear camera department involves a quad-camera setup comprising of a 64-megapixel primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and an 8-megapixel 3x optical zoom lens with f/2.4 aperture. An 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.4 aperture and 2-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture complete the system. The company claims that this new chipset also brings improved noise reduction and low-light shooting capabilities.
Juicing up the Honor 30S is a 4000mAh battery which is supported by TUV Rheinland 40W fast charging and claims to charge the device to about 70 percent in 30 minutes. It is assumed that new phones are likely to arrive only after April 15 or even later considering the Covid-19 lockdown in the country.
