The Pixel 7’s design is undoubtedly refined from the previous year’s Pixel 6 series. This time, the aluminium enclosure for the cameras has a matte finish, adding both looks and durability to the phone. The rounded edges also help the phone look more elegant while ensuring an excellent in-hand feel. Google’s also taken sustainability into account. The phone’s enclosure is made from 100 per cent recycled content, and the overall carbon footprint of the phone’s production has been reduced by 35 per cent!
Additionally, the phone comes with thin bezels on a 6.3-inch display. The display also offers up to 25 per cent more peak brightness, allowing you to use the phone in broad daylight. Furthermore, there’s a dual camera system, an upgraded front camera, an under-the-display fingerprint reader, and face unlock. Google has also ensured that the new phone uses the Google Tensor G2 chipset, with an upgraded Titan M2 security chip.
Nonetheless, most external design elements remain the same as the Pixel 6 series. Google has clearly followed the saying: if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it!

Security and Software
This time, with the addition of the Google Tensor M2 chipset, the company has also included the Titan M2 security chipset. This chipset specialises in Machine Learning algorithms and brings in a bunch of security and experience improvements for the user. The TPU meets the standard guidelines followed by the world’s most important banks and Google Cloud itself. Therefore, the phone brings protected computing and data privacy to a whole new level. Any information that you process with the phone is encrypted during transmission. Moreover, Google will not keep any of the data and will wipe it after the process is completed.
Google will also provide a special VPN service through the Google One system, which will drop as a feature after the phone’s release. This feature is only available to the new Pixel phones at the moment. Finally, the phone will come with Android 13 out of the box and will have all the security and privacy options under a single setting. This will make changing the security settings much easier for end users. Furthermore, the Machine Learning algorithms on the phone are 60 per cent faster and 20 per cent more efficient than any other Pixel phone. The phone also uses the RCS standard for messaging, providing the utmost security and encryption to keep your data private. Other features, such as Live Translate and Assistant Voice Typing, are better than ever before!
Ease of Use Features
Google has also introduced some ease of use features to the phone. For example, the Pixel Feature Drop will add a new feature to the phone every few months. This will keep the users engaged and give them something to look forward to. Moreover, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are guaranteed to receive software and security updates for the next five years!
The company’s also added the Pixel Call Assist features to the phone. Essentially, you’ll be able to filter scams, navigate business calls through Direct My Calls, and use other helpful features to provide a better calling experience. Apart from this, Google will provide a Clear Calling feature drop in the next few months. This feature will use Machine Learning algorithms to eliminate background noises and enhance the caller’s voice, ensuring a much smoother calling experience.

Lastly, we’ve got the camera systems. The Google Pixel 7 features a dual camera system at the back, with an updated front-facing selfie camera. Without a doubt, the Pixel lineup’s colour reproduction is second to none, thanks to their Real Tone image system. Thankfully, Real Tone makes a return, and has been improved for the Pixel 7 series.
Additionally, Google has made selfies and general camera usage much more accessible for visually impaired users through the Guided Frame feature. This feature uses Machine Learning to face detection to help the user place their phone at an optimal location for taking a picture. This location will have the best distance, focus, and exposure levels as well. You can also use Photo Unblur to remove blur from older images, and Magic Eraser to touch up the photos as you prefer. Furthermore, videography is enhanced, thanks to Cinematic Blur, Active Stabilisation, and 10Bit HDR, leading to the most expansive and expressive video capturing ever seen on a Pixel phone. Finally, you’ll be able to take pictures with the Next Generation Super Res Zoom and record across the board with 4K 60FPS, along with Speech Enhancement!
