Croma vs. Reliance Digital: About Stores
Croma is a subsidiary of the TATA group. It has over 500+ stores across 200+ cities in India. I have personally visited a couple of them in Kolkata and Gurgaon, so I believe its presence is pretty dominant. They have 500+ national and international brands, alongside their own Croma-branded items introduced in 2008.
Reliance Digital is a better-known brand as it has grasped a stronghold in the Indian electronics market. Plus, its association with MyJio makes it more unified across Reliance subsidiaries. Spread across 800+ cities, with about 1800 stores, it has one of the largest inventories of electronics. So, its popularity is undeniable.
Appliances Variety
Both Croma and Reliance Digital have an extensive range of electronics and appliances. You can find a lot of things based on your needs.
Here’s a list of product categories available at both stores:
- Smartphones
- TVs
- Air Conditioners (ACs)
- Air Coolers
- Laptops
- Headphones
- Earphones
- Fans
- Refrigerators (Fridges)
- Washing Machines
- Tablets
- Smartwatches
- Kitchen Appliances
- Home Theatre Systems
- Grooming Products
- Microwaves
- Speakers
- Cameras
- Water Purifiers
Yes, you can find all of these when you visit the stores. However, you may find a limited amount of models for display offcourse.
Key Differences in Variety
While the categories are largely the same, there are subtle differences which we observed in product variety:
Mobiles
Reliance Digital has an edge with brands like Motorola and Samsung’s latest launches. Croma lacks Motorola phones, and Samsung’s stock is also limited.
We didn’t find the Samsung Galaxy A36 and Samsung Galaxy A56 on display in the particular Croma store, but they were available in the Reliance Store.
We even asked the staff about the device, but they were unsure if it would be available in the store.
On the bright side, if you are a little bold with the smartphone brands you choose, you’ll find the latest Nothing Phones in Croma. They offer prices competitive with the online e-commerce giants as well.
Induction Cooktops:
Reliance Digital offers a broader selection (5-6 options from various brands). Croma’s range is noticeably limited, making it harder to choose.
If you’re looking for a variety in mobiles and kitchen appliances like induction cooktops, Reliance Digital takes the lead. For other categories, both are fairly equal in terms of brands and options.

Offers & Loyalty Points
Croma:
Croma has the Tata Neu loyalty program. With the Tata Neu HDFC Bank Credit Card, you can earn rewards on every purchase and save up to 10 per cent on all transactions. The card comes with zero joining fees and great rewards. This makes it a compelling option for frequent shoppers.
Reliance Digital:
Reliance Digital runs the Reliance One loyalty program. Here, you earn points on every purchase that can be redeemed for discounts on future transactions.
However, it doesn’t tie into a broader ecosystem like Tata Neu. It is also not appropriately advertised like the Tata Neu Points by Croma. We had to enquire from different staff members to get the details personally. Croma’s integration with Tata Neu and its credit card rewards give it a slight edge for loyal customers who shop across the Tata ecosystem.
Croma vs. Reliance Digital Summer Sales
Both Croma and Reliance Digital are having big sales this summer. They focus on cooling products like ACs, fridges, and air coolers. Let’s check out the comparison
Aspect | Croma Summer Sale | Reliance Digital Summer Sale |
---|---|---|
Featured Products | ACs, Fridges, Air Coolers, and more | ACs, Fridges, Air Coolers, and more |
Freebies | Free gifts on purchases above a certain amount | Buy-one-get-one free deals on some items |
Duration | Usually runs during the summer months | Similar timing with big discounts |
Both sales offer great discounts, but:
- Reliance Digital has buy-one-get-one free deals. This is great if you want more than one item.
- Croma offers freebies with bigger purchases. It is perfect if you’re buying expensive items like ACs or fridges.
So, if you want more items, go for Reliance Digital. But if you’re buying something big, Croma might give you more value.
Bank Offers: Croma vs. Reliance Digital
Bank offers can significantly affect how much you save on your purchases. Here’s how Croma and Reliance Digital compare:
Store | Supported Banks | Offers |
---|---|---|
Croma | HDFC, ICICI | Up to 10 per cent savings with Tata Neu HDFC Card; instant discounts on ICICI |
Reliance Digital | BOBCARD, IDFC, AXIS, ICICI, J&K Bank, SBI, Kotak | Cashback discounts (e.g., Rs. 5,000 on ICICI, SBI, Kotak Credit Cards), PNB |
If you have one of the supported cards, both stores offer solid deals, but Reliance Digital might be better if you’re looking for larger cashback amounts.
Latest Launch Offer: MacBook Air M4
Both stores recently launched the MacBook Air M4 with identical discounts like:
- Croma: Rs 5,000 instant discount + low-cost EMI (12 months) on ICICI, Kotak, and SBI Credit Cards.
- Reliance Digital: Rs. 5,000 cashback on ICICI, SBI, and Kotak Credit Cards.
So, if you are planning to get this latest MacBook Air M4, you can choose any of the stores. However, in this case, EMI benefits, after-sales service, loyalty points, and so on should be considered. Reliance Digital offers more bank options, making it more accessible. However, Croma’s Tata Neu HDFC Card perks are unbeatable if you’re already in the Tata ecosystem.
Tips on Buying From Croma And Reliance Digital
Here are some insider tips to maximize your shopping experience at Croma and Reliance Digital:
1. Negotiate with Staff
At both stores, you can politely ask staff for a “staff discount.” We have personally scored discounts this way at both Croma and Reliance Digital—most staff are happy to oblige!
2. Look for Freebies
- Croma: Watch for freebies during sale events when you spend above a certain limit.
- Reliance Digital: Check out small offers like buy-one-get-one deals on select products.
3. Time Your Purchase with Sales
Both platforms offer significant discounts and freebies during events like the Summer Sale. Plan your big purchases accordingly.
4. Mobiles and Specialty Items
For mobiles (e.g., Motorola, Google Pixel 9a) and induction cooktops, head to Reliance Digital for better variety. Croma falls short in these areas.
5. Check Online First
Browse their websites or apps to compare prices, offers, and stock availability before visiting the store.
A Quick Recap
Category | Winner |
---|---|
Best Variety | Reliance Digital |
Best Loyalty Rewards | Croma |
Best Bank Offers | Reliance Digital |
Biggest Sale Value | Tie (depends on the freebies you value) |
Final Verdict
Croma may fall behind in offering variety, but it sure does give irresistible deals on all its products, and it has decent quality as well. Plus, it has in-house Croma products. One can leverage the Tata Neu HDFC Card for consistent savings.
On the other hand, Reliance Digital is the go-to for various home appliances and smartphones and offers more bank offer options. Its Reliance One program is solid but less versatile than Tata Neu.
